Inspired to try a non-Dark Horse deck from The Man From Leng. I tested his version while playing with Rita Young in the Carnevale of Horrors in advance of our blind run through of The Circle Undone, and made some tweaks based on that experience for this 0XP build.

First thing I learned was that the Mythos deck kills Preston if he doesn't have any boosts. I modified the deck to add Dig Deep and will mulligan hard for it so I can have it at the start.

I added Leo De Luca to either have an extra action or use that action to be able to hold onto any of the Family Inheritance resources left after fighting/investigating. This extra action easily kept Preston with a resource pool 15-20 deep, which made both Well Connected and Money Talks worthwile investments. Dealing with Lodge "Debts" is also not a problem when pulled thanks to Preston's rapidly growing wealth.

Since Preston is so loaded there's no sense in having Fire Axe in this build. Instead Preston is double-handing it with his Baseball Bat for the extra damage infliction. I like having Resourceful in there to get the Baseball Bat back if Preston loses it to a / pull from the Chaos bag. Because Preston has to pay resources to pump up his with Hard Knocks, evading enemies is usually a cheaper route than risking scuffing up his cufflinks while swinging his bat around.

After playing the first TCU scenario I found that Preston is not that great at getting clues with a 0XP deck. His only chances at getting clues are (pretty much) through Well Connected and Money Talks. Streetwise is the clear first upgrade, but it will most likely cost Preston his fortune to start chasing clues.

Even though Preston accumulated massive amounts of resources with this deck build, he was just not efficient at getting clues, or fighting, or anything really. There may be a life lesson in there...something about resources not buying something... Perhaps that's how they inteded it over there at FFG.

*** Updates after playing through TCU are logged in my other deck, Preston's College Admission Scandal.
