Roland Banks has heard that there's trouble going down in Arkham, and so he's off to figure it out. Cosmic horror is hardly the job for a simple cop with a gun (assuming he knows who to shoot with it), which is why the detective has been assigned to poke around the streets of the city. He's got a hunch, he's got deduction, and when he's not fighting off cultists and monsters with a machete he's using his flashlight and magnifying glass to uncover the truth.

This deck is featured in the Shadow Archive article, "Confronting the Horror" https://theshadowarchive.net/confronting-the-horror/

While this is a valuable and informative deck, the first recommendation I'd make to improve it is to exchange the two Beat Cops with .45 Automatics, as you're going to have more value out of a disposable firearm than an overpriced ally. (And seriously, Guard Dog is way better.)

Upgrade suggestions:

  • Police Badge for more willpower and those critical extra actions (replaces your 2 least favorite talents).
  • Beat Cop to replace .45 Automatic or Guard Dog to make your damage output greater. Having 2 cops and 2 dogs is fine to me because I see them both as very expendable.
  • Magnifying Glass if you have extra experience.

If you have tons of experience going into the Devourer Below, I think you're better off swapping for Shotgun, two Extra Ammunition, and going to town on those enemies.
