Dynamic duo!

This deck is part of a dynamic duo series, and is meant to be played together with Dynamic Duos - Marie Lambeau. It works just fine when paired with other investigators too, of course, but some cards might be less effective.

Premise

Patrice is the temperamental part of this duet. And she's back, better than ever, thanks to the new Edge of the Earth card Prophetic. It's fantastic, as it singlehandedly relieves Patrice much of her financial woes. Prophetic generates 2 resources each round that can be used on Fortune, Spell and Spirit* cards. There's 13 cards in the initial version of the deck can be paid for with Prophetic. And it opens up for several sluggers down the line, such as Trial by Fire, Eucatastrophe and Will to Survive.

Synergy

These are bonus decks - and the synergy here is on the low side. Marie enjoy her doom, Patrice can help avoid some doom. These are more like theme decks; crazy generalist deck perfect for playing two-handed. Marie and Patrice each have their own play style, but somehow they just complements each other in such a nice way.

Upgrade path

Important upgrades, in my order of priority
  • Prophetic Do you remember me gushing all over Prophetic in the introduction? Want me to do it again? Okay, fine. Just buy this card. No, buy two of them! <3 They even stack if you get both in play.
  • Cornered. A classic for Patrice. Buy two.
  • Summoned Hound and A Chance Encounter is a well-known combo. If you use A Chance Encounter to get the Hound in play, you wont trigger the bonded Unbound Beast, because put into play isn't the same as play. Anyhow, it's a great way to earn an extra action each round, and Short Supply will hopefully help you along. (PS: Chance Encpunter has the Fortune trait).
  • Divination will speed up your clue gathering. Rite of Seeking (2) is a decent alternative, but man, 5 resources is a lot. Spell trait.
Other upgrades (in any order you’d like)
  • Trial by Fire. Pump your most needed stat to 7 and just go berserk for a round. Spirit trait.
  • Eucatastrophe is a decent way to trigger a reshuffle of your deck. Being able to time it will let you avoid Watcher from Another Dimension for another run. Fortune trait.
  • Charisma. So you can have a doggie in play and still be able to play....:
  • Granny Orne! I've traditionally been on Team Madame, but with our financial woes taken care of, I've switched to Team Granny. Go Team Granny!
  • Will to Survive is a card I seldom play, as it's usually too expensive for most survivors. But not for Patrice the Prophet! Spirit trait.
  • Burn After Reading This card is better than I first suspected. Just exile a level 0 card and you'll find 2 clues, no test required. And if Marie is going overboard with her doom thingie, exile a level 2+ card to help out. Yeah, you probably don't wanna do that, but at least you have the option if needed.
  • Fortune or Fate. I don't like this card all that much for Patrice. You're probably not gonna have it in your hand when you need it, and using it early "just in case" will sometimes lead to wasted Xp. But I listed it here, for the sake of the theme. Fortune trait.

Tips and advice

I prefer the Fire Axe for Patrice. In my opinion, it's the more reliable way to get rid of the Watcher from Another Dimension. With 3 resources and a pip from a commited card, you can often end up with a of 9. Remember, you you do not have to have to deal 2 damage to the Watcher; you only need a successful combat test. The axe is also a great backup weapon.

Mind's Eye is a decent alternative to spell assets for Patrice. But Prophetic will help make traditional spell assets easier to finance and use. And you will have a spare Arcane slot for the Summoned Hound.
