The ideal set-up:
1) Arcane Initiate to thin deck out.
2) Finding Protective Incantations, and play them. [Note - this card is NOT a Spell]
3) Switch to David Renfield to be able to keep up the Protective Incantations.
4) Book of Shadows to open a 3rd Arcane Slot for a cast spell of choice.
4) Use Forbidden Knowledge to remove a doom-laden David Renfield when necessary.
Note: I would play The Chthonian Stone, but our game has an Ursula Downs, and he wants to play it. Suits me!
Our game also has a Carolyn Fern being played, so the 2 Trauma start is manageable out of the gate. Healing plus Resource gain takes pressure away from an urgent David Renfield if you already have the Protective Incantations but no Resources to pay for them.
