Claypool stares up at the ruins with a twinkle of wonder in his eyes. "Marvelous, isn’t it, William?" Behind him, Professor Dyer materializes within the mirage. Both of them are at least a decade younger, perhaps more. You note Claypool did not address the professor by his title.
"Marvelous and mysterious," Dyer replies. "Nobody knows the true purpose of this site. Perhaps nobody ever will."
"But that’s why we do this, right?" Claypool says with a grin. "To learn the truth."
Dyer glances back at the youth, lines of worry pulling at his eyes. "Yes," he whispers, "the truth."
"Marvelous and mysterious," Dyer replies. "Nobody knows the true purpose of this site. Perhaps nobody ever will."
