0.5. Memories of a forgotten past life has been plaguing Agnes ever since she found an ancient key among her family's heirloom. Esoteric spells whispers in her mind, memories of a forgotten life, forgotten world, "Hyperborea". But she still continue with her mundane life, having no clause, no direction to put her new-found knowledge into use. At the same time, she was terrified of the memories, fearing her safe regular life will come to an end, and the sense that the eldritch horrors that she glimpsed in her memories still lurks in her world now.

1. While serving as a waitress in a small diner in Arkham, Agnes heard whispers of strange animal attacks. She's read the newspaper about it and all it says were they were no more than wild animal attacks. The townsfolk seems to think different and there is tension and a sense of fear in the air. Agnes felt unease, a stirring that she should do something about it but she has no idea where to even begin. And the opportunity came on a drizzling evening, when "Skids" O'Toole came into her diner. Skids was researching about the series of animal attacks at his table, flipping over the newspaper and making notes. Agnes noticed while serving him, and decided to strike up a conversation with him. They got engaged in deep discussion, where Agnes shared what she learnt from the local gossips and her intention to help. Skids invited her to his old family home where two other like-minded individuals are also gathering later in the night. And it is there she met Daisy and Roland.

Still wary of the shady looking guy, and the always present dangers of Arkham, Agnes decided not to go unarmed. But due to the lack of preparation time, she make do with what she has instead of buying a gun as she would prefer. She brought her trusty baseball bat which helped her beat off that creepy stalker a few years back, and the rabbit's foot necklace which she bought from a street vendor but she got a feeling it's truly lucky. The key that is her family heirloom she brought along as well... Just in case it'll come in handy.

After a short introduction and drinks in the parlor, they retreated to the study for deeper discussion and to share their findings. Agnes was glad that she was finally able to talk freely with others regarding all the strange going-ons in Arkham. She spoke little of her arcane abilities, only giving a hint of it as she's still uncomfortable with it. And it was then when there was a lull in conversation, a loud banging was heard. Skids attempted to go to investigate but discovered that the door of the study was locked when it shouldn't be able to.

After prying the study's door open, they encountered ghouls in the parlor. It seems the ghouls are coming up from the basement. As they ran and they fought, Skids felt there is something truly wrong with his ancestral home.

And while they were attempting to investigate the house for more clues, they encountered Lita in one of the room, where they narrowly dodged her attacking them. She then accused them of destroying her seal on the ghouls. Confused, Skids asked her to help them fight their way out of there regardless.

On the way out, Agnes relies on her trusty bat and even managed to conjured a blinding light on one of the ghouls to get away. And right in front of the door leading outside, the Ghoul Priest were there to block their way. Everyone pooled their strength in to defeat it. Agnes hit it best as she could with her bat and blast it reflexively with a mental force as her terror climbs.

The Ghoul Priest was eventually defeated and along with its defeat, the air seems to clear and they could breathe a little easier. Just when they thought it was over and were catching a breather, Lita declared an ultimatum. She told Skids that he must burn down his house to prevent more ghouls from emerging and it is not the end of the troubles.

Skids pondered for a moment and shouted that this was never much of a home for him and proceeded to prepare for burning it down. But deep down Skids felt an intense sensation of lost and sorrow that the first time he came back to his ancestral home after many years, he ended up burning it down. This will weight heavily in his mind for decades to come. Although he seems to have gained an ally in Lita, as dubious as she seems...

  1. Lita informed them of a cabal of cultist worshiping the ghouls' god and will be performing a ritual at midnight. Lita does not know what ritual they will be performing but she knows there's 6 of them, and some clues to their identity.

They search all over Arkham, following the clues and getting assaulted by random acolytes who attempted to halt their progress. They were even attacked by Nightgaunts on several occasions.

Despite their best efforts, and Agnes bringing more spells to the table, they were only able to find 5 cultists. Roland, seeing that they were not able to find the last cultist before midnight, decided on a strategic retreat.

3. Failing to prevent the Midnight Mass brought the doom of the ancient one closer to Arkham. In the last ditch effort to prevent the summoning of Umordhoth, they head into the surrounding woods of Arkham.

Before heading in, Agnes befriended a stray cat by feeding it some tuna from her sandwich that she packed from the diner. She braced herself and stepped into the Arkham woods, each person spreading out to search for the ritual site. Not long into the search, she heard Roland's call for help and rushed to his aid, there she encountered a horror unlike any she'd ever seen, a Dark Young, relentlessly trashing about, with Roland desperately fending it off. At her wits' end as none of her spells can save him in time, the stray cat following her darted forward and clawed it in the eye, then weaved between its hooves and ran off. With the Dark Young distracted, Roland quickly put some distance between him and it, and prepared to fire at it. But a Goat Spawn jumped out of the shadows and engaged Roland. As Agnes moved to help, grasping hands burst out of the soil and clawed and pulled at her legs. Startled and frightened, she screamed and tried to pull herself free.

Daisy, alerted by the commotion, rushed in to help, she managed to banish the Dark Young while Roland and Agnes finished off the Goat Spawn. As another Goat Spawn jumped out and engaged Agnes, she yelled for Daisy and Roland to go first while she handles it. As time has just ran out, a strange light and burst of eldritch energy signified the completion of the ritual and the arrival of Umordhoth.

Agnes, having just awaken more hidden memory of life past, cast a powerful spell of Shriveling and defeated the Goat Spawn. Shivering with fatigue, traumatic memories, current horrific circumstances, and wounded legs, she slowly began to make her way to meet up with the rest. Along the way, the ground trembled, a wave of otherworldly energy seems to be moving in the soil, and Agnes tried to hurry. Then she felt her ankle grabbed, and she stumbled and fall. The earth churned and hands like some kind of grotesque plant rises up around her, they grabbed and clawed and pulled. She struggled and tried to stand but the hands held her tight, pulling her into the ground, into the churning soil. Eventually, she succumbed, exhausted with no more strength to fight. Her last thoughts were, "Ah, this life... Ended much like the last."

Though she was the first to fall, her companions did not last long after her. As the would be saviors of Arkham had fallen, Umordhoth was free to step into the world and laid waste to Arkham.
