This deck was built specifically to murder alongside a Rex deck. She'll rarely gather clues and will rather be the bodyguard to Rex who will hoover all of the clues for the team. The corner piece of the deck is the fire axe and Double or Nothing combo. Physical Training is also key to firing it off with consistency (to boost fight and drain credits to zero). With one Vicious Blow, the combo will pop an enemy with 6-8 damage in one hit. With the upgraded Vicious Blow, that number climbs to 6-10. If you manage two Vicious Blow cards, the possible damage climbs accordingly. It's enough to kill any outside of bosses in one hit and even possibly some bosses with the right combo.

Beat Cop and the cross give you another two damage.

Granted, it's a lot of cards to make the combo, but all have two copies. Prepared for the Worst can help find that fire axe, if need be.

Machete is the main weapon with the .45 as a backup.

Targets for upgrades, in priority order: Beat Cops, Vicious Blows, one of the big guns. Stand Together could also be a good target superseding a big gun (or even Vicious Blow) depending on the other investigator(s). With Rex, who wants lots of cards, it's quite good. It also, helps Zoey find her combo cards and resources to fire it off. Keen Eye could be a good target as well, if your partner isn't a good investigator (if your solo, it's probably your first target). Moment of Respite could be a good late upgrade target if you've been taking mental trauma.

---UPDATE: Dunwich Legacy completed---

Here are the changes that the deck underwent throughout the campaign as I upgraded cards, in roughly the order I added them. Below that are my musings about which cards worked well overall and which didn't.

Additions:

Beat Cop x 2 (2 xp each); Vicious Blow x 2 (2 xp each); Stand Together (3 xp); Shotgun (4 xp); Moment of Respite (3 xp); Charisma (3 xp); Brother Xavier (1 xp); "I've had worse..." (4 xp)

Removals:

Beat Cop x2; Vicious Blow x2; Evidence x2; Prepared for the Worst; Taunt; Smoking Pipe

The MVP of the deck was, of course, the Fire Axe and Double or Nothing combo. I was able to one hit kill a boss mid way through the campaign for 12 damage. It only cost 4 resources including the cost of the axe. Of course, the combo would have been pretty weak without the Vicious Blows. The upgraded versions were absolutely key.

The upgraded Beat Cops also proved to be essential time and again. Stand Together was always a beautiful card to draw. I'd have gotten a second if the campaign didn't make drawing lots of cards risky. I never got to pull off Moment of Respite or "I've had worse" but both would have been very useful had I drawn them. Brother Xavier was surprisingly good despite costing quite a bit. The Charisma was partially for him and Beat Cops but mostly for a story ally that I had gained.

I wish I hadn't gotten Shotgun. It's hit or miss and expensive in both XP and resources. If I were to do it again, I'd either go for the Lightning Gun with is more reliable and has an additional use, or something else all together.

Like all healing assets, Smoking Pipe just never found any use. Even when I did draw it, it just didn't seem worth the action to get it in play.

Evidence is a great card--just unnecessary when your partner is Rex.

Overall, this was a great, murderous deck. As a whole, I wouldn't change much about it aside from the few notes above (e.g., Shotgun). I might dump Smoking Pipe for something else like a skill card and leave out Evidence if paired with a Seeker (otherwise keep it).

I would highly recommend asking the services of Brother Xavier....

That combo is pretty bonkers! I like it!

I thought about Brother Xavier. He looks good. I think I'd prefer to save the ally slots for Beat Cop and save the XP for some other things, like Shotgun and another Stand Together (already upgraded both Vicious Blows, Beat Cops, and a copy for Stand Together going into Essex County Express).

Man I really like this kind of idea with Double or Nothing and I'd love to take it for a spin. Unfortunately I do not own 2 core sets so I made a modification of it and also a bit more towards the goal of keeping the cost of cards as low as I thought possible.
