Agnes Baker: Mystic Focused on enemy management with clue gathering utility, sharp focus on spellcasting and risk/reward.

Combat:

  • Agnes can deal ambient damage to enemies by taking horror (horror must be assigned to her, not soaked by an ally or asset for this effect to work)
  • This can apply once per phase, (Mythos, Investigator, Enemy, Upkeep)
  • You can use an attack of opportunity to kill a 1 hp enemy if it deals horror.
  • Use Shrivelling to deal with powerful enemies, if you draw a special token it effectively deals an additional damage to the enemy regardless of the success of the attack.
  • Meat Cleaver can be used to either finish off lower stat enemies to heal horror, or you can take horror to deal 1 damage and an additional damage if the attack hits. (with the amount of horror you may take, there is a good chance the +2 to hit effect may be relevant).
  • Blinding Light can be used to evade an enemy using Willpower instead of Agility and will deal damage to them in addition.
  • Hypnotic Gaze will prevent an attack against you or an investigator at your location and could deal the physical damage back to them!

Investigation:

  • Heirloom of Hyperborea draws you cards for playing spells.
  • Sixth Sense allows you to investigate using Willpower and choose the location. -Rite of Seeking is very potent, pulling 2 clues off a location but can stop your turn immediately after if you pull a symbol token, use it as a last action if there are other things you want to do.
  • Arcane Initiates will search the top of your deck for a spell once turn, but come in with one doom which counts towards the agenda. once done with them, you can remove them by playing another ally or healing with smoking pipe.
  • Smoking Pipe will heal a lot of the horror you will take, transforming it into health damage that you should place on your allies if possible (place one onto an arcane initiate to remove it once you are done to remove doom from the board).
  • Forbidden Knowledge gives you 1 resource at the cost of 1 horror which you will turn into 1 damage to an enemy at your location.
  • Uncage the Soul will make almost any spell in your deck free to play, or it can be committed to a test for+2 Willpower, it will also make Agnes' weakness free to get rid of in a pinch.
  • Peter Sylvestre gives you +1 Agility to make you quite competent at evading most enemies if needed but also serves as a good soak for horror you do not want to assign to Agnes as he heals 1 horror from himself every turn.
  • In a Pinch, Drawn to the Flame can give you two testless clues at the cost of drawing the top card of the encounter deck.

Weakness:

  • Agnes' weakness can be a punishing one. As an event it will cost you an action and 2 resources to play. If it is still in your hand at the end of the turn you must reveal it and take 2 horror (can be soaked).

  • If you play the spell to get it out of your hand it adds one doom to the current agenda and can cause it to advance regardless of the phase it is added, you will have to pick your time to play this while doom is still low to avoid the advancement.
