This deck is designed to function ok as a solo deck, but excels in a support role.
By locking down nasty chaos bag pulls through protective incantation and Cthonian Stones, it can mitigate problems for the rest of the group.
Additionally Manual Dexterity, Trench Coat, Mists of R'lyeh, Shrivelling, can solve the Serpent of Yig problem.
Enraptured was included to make sure that mists and more importantly that rare shriveling card can stay active for longer.
Don't be afraid to use Counterspell, Dark Prophecy, or Premonition to collect clues. Mateo has low Intellect and these cards were included to boost his usefulness in any situation not the least of which is clue collection.
Grotesque Statue, Defiance, and Recall the Future all continue Mateo's Trend towards trying to control fate.
And if you find you are looking for some more punch, and don't have access to any more attack Mystic cards like me you could include Ornate Bow. I've blasted the Serpent of Yig with it on no less than 3 occasions and it is great fun!
