I made this deck as a simpler deck for my mom to play but it worked better than I anticipated during some testing so I wanted to share it.

This starts as a pretty typical scavenging build for Wendy and does a reasonable job collecting clues. All the hand items and Wendy's Amulet are all good candidates for committing & scavenging.

This deck gets interesting after your first couple of upgrades.

Priority Upgrades:

  1. Lockpicks - only 2 XP to make these more reliable
  2. Perception -> Granny Orne - +1 int & on tap mini-lucky
  3. Old Keyring -> Ice Pick - Discard for +1 clue during an investigate

At this point, every turn you can discard your ice pick to collect another clue while investigating and then use scavenging to recover the ice pick from the discard pile and play it again (it is fast). Lockpicks make succeeding by 2 much easier and helps trigger both scavenging and lucky cigarette case.

This deck can pass skill tests very reliably between Wendy's ability and Granny Orne. This makes it beginner friendly since you don't have to worry about which tests you can afford to fail.

Other upgrades I really like for this deck:

  1. Look what I found -> Sharp Vision - You won't fail tests often so sharp vision's extra clue is a better fit for this deck
  2. Unexpected Courage -> Unrelenting - I love the option to grab more cards but removing some tokens for a critical test is also useful. This is one of my favorite cards.
  3. Guts -> Plucky - Permanent boosts to willpower & int are nice for any clue getter.

Notes:

  1. Backstab is only for enemies that you can not evade.
  2. This deck is a little cash poor so you may want to add more cards to collect resources (like faustian bargain or easy mark).
  3. The deck is obviously named for use of lockpicks & ice pick at the same time.
  4. I play on standard with my mom so that is where I tested this deck.
