Sister Mary's double-enchanted bow is kind of incredible, and it feels like you're cheating once she gets going. Here are some highlights:

Enchanted Bow + Enchant Weapon: This combo is the hallmark of the deck. Shoot things at a distance with 3-damage arrows or get up close and personal to save ammo. Unlike other firearms, you only use charges when you're fighting ranged. Keep in mind that this combo uses both hand slots and both arcane slots, and that leads her building into some interested deck-building considerations. Notably, you no longer have access to Enchanted Blade or Holy Spear.

Arcane Initiate & Word of Command: Both the Enchanted Bow and Enchant Weapon have the Spell trait.

Stick to the Plan: Emergency Cache helps to jump start the deck. And Dynamite Blast x2 in your back pocket can be game winning. This also thins the deck of non-Spell cards, giving Arcane Initiate a higher chance of hitting something good.

Take the Initiative & Promise of Power: Some of the best Skill cards in the game, which can be used to pick up a couple clues in a pinch.

David Renfield: I originally ran this deck with only Emergency Cache & Stand Together, but it wasn't enough. This is a money hungry deck, especially in scenarios when you're trying to set up a double Dynamite Blast at the end.

The deck shown here represents key upgrades for the deck. Keep in mind that the Level 0 deck begins with 2 Delve Too Deep and there are many other upgrades that you can throw experience at.

One of the down-sides of this version of Mary is that she doesn't really lean into her bless tokens at all. Sometimes it feels like she doesn't have any special abilities at all. And yet, she has the best deck-building constraints and stats that make her double-enchanted bow viable. The bow is what makes the deck special.

This is a great & interesting deck concept. I have some questions/suggestions:

  • given that a lot of your resource cost is spells, why not use uncage the soul as your economy? Even your bow is a spell.
  • Given you only have 1 weapon (enchanted bow), have you considered putting in 'prepared for the worst' to help you find it? I worry that you might not be able to find it, even with arcane initiate helping
  • why only one 'enchant weapon', given how central it is to the deck? I see you can use 'word of command' to find it, but that's pretty expensive in terms of both cost and XP
  • Instead of dynamite blast, consider storm of spirits - it has the limitation of being used at your location, but it's cheaper (free with uncage the soul) and easy to find with arcane initiate
  • Consider Nephthys as your ally, to better use bless tokens. She gives you +1 willpower (which helps your bow attacks) and uses the bless tokens to do passive damage

One last question I had: how does the combo of enchanted bow and enchant weapon work? Are you adding your first to your willpower or your willpower to your willpower? I am not familiar with how that combo works.

Uncage the Soul would possibly free up the David Renfield slot (for Nephthys?). But that wouldn't provide enough economy for Dynamite Blast. Maybe I just need to give up the Stick to the Plan + Dynamite Blast combo, but I love it. Between the bow and dynamite, you can blow everything to Hell from a distance. On the other hand, if I made the switch to Uncage the Soul, that would lean more into a Storm of Spirits build.

Prepare for the Worst might be worth it. Like you said, Arcane Initiates help a lot and I haven't had problems so far. The damage spells really help a lot.

Word of Command was my compromise when deciding how many Enchant Weapon and Fang of Tyr'Thrha I wanted. And when Word of Command can also act as a 3rd bow, I decided to go with that split.

No idea if I'm playing Enchanted Bow + Enchant Weapon correctly. I know the damage stacks if used on another weapon (with simpler card text), so it doesn't overwrite the Enchanted Bow completely. I'm playing it one effect after another. The Enchant Weapon requires a Fight action to be activated. So the Enchant Weapon is activated after and that calculation supersedes the Enchanted Bow. At base values, I've been using 4+3=7 without adding the +1 skill value from the bow. But I still take the +2 damage.

I haven't been using it as Willpower x2 +1.

I sent an e-mail to FFG and got a response on this issue. This is what they said: “Enchant Weapon” adds its owner’s willpower value to the attached asset’s combat value for the attack. Because “Enchanted Bow” does not use combat when taking a Fight action, it would not get a bonus to the skill value being used (willpower or agility). It’s worth mentioning that “Enchant Weapon” would at least grant “Enchanted Bow” +1 damage to the attack.
