I have never used William before. I'm still new to Arkham Horror LCG. The build is for a run through Return to Zelot and then Return to Dunwich. I am using Rex Murphy in conjunction with William.

Aug 13, 2022I would swap .32 Colt for a second .45 because 4 is a bit low as a combat score unless you have lots of other ways to boost it. The Shovels are a great fit for Yorick (both thematically and gameplay wise). Knives are a bit rubbish. Baseball bats are kind of nice for Yorick because he can dig them out of the trash after they break although them taking up two hand slots is a problem. I wouldn't put lantern in because Rex can do the clue getting and you'll want the hand slot for other stuff. Machete is very strong. I find fine clothes too situational especially to run two copies. If you want to be tanky bring a Leather Coat instead (it synergizes well with Yorick's ability). If you want to keep the Lanterns or use the Baseball Bat, Bandolier could be okay. I would really recommend getting a couple Cherished Keepsakes or Rabbit's Feet for your accessory slot. The former is great with Yorick's ability and the latter is just generally good. If you're playing through both campaigns without a reset you definitely want the Cherished Keepsakes to counteract the Trauma. You want to be good at fighting so the more Beat Cops the better. Guard Dog is pretty decent. I would remove both Dig Deeps and Physical Training because with Yorick being able to play cards from his discard pile (when he kills) you don't really have resources to spare. Your event picks look pretty spot on. Prepared for the worst could be good to find your Machete or Shovel but you have loads of alternative weapons so it's not a must have. I would get rid of the Perceptions and add Overpower and probably Guts (it's great for the Mythos phase). Vicious Blow is a good pick. I would probably keep Unexpected Courage but once you gain some experience they would be the first to go. Ultimately just try and see what works for you and have fun! |
Welcome to the game. I'll share my first impressions. You have lots of items for hand slots. I know they are disposable but you can also play them from your discard pile with Yorick's ability. The knife seems like the worst card of the bunch with Machete being your bread and butter weapon.
I don't like Dig Deep and Physical Training very much. At least, I don't recommend having so many in the deck. I suggest keeping the Physical Training since you plan to be fighting and dropping the Dig Deep. Especially since they both cover willpower.
That gives you about four to six slots to play around with for new cards. I suggest something to soak horror and help keep you alive. You might also want second copies of Beat Cop and Guard Dog so they are more likely to appear early. Consider running things for card draw and economy like Take Heart.
If you are playing with Rex Murphy then you shouldn't need to gather many clues. I suggest removing the perceptions because four book is not very reliable. You already have the lanterns and look what I found. Old keyring and flashlight are good for low shroud locations if you must investigate.
