There's a place, known to the weary and the worn, a place that is always there just around the corner in the moments you need it most.
A place of carousing, of warm light spilling out even into the darkest of nights. A place of food and drink, of sharp-edged banter and even raucous combat between patrons who have seen too much of the world, or too much of a bottle.
Behind the counter in this place works a woman who sees it all and is unfazed by evil, exhaustion, entitlement, or inebriation. This woman will pour you coffee, bring you waffles, make you comfortable in the warm glow of the sanctuary she serves...
...as long as you respect the gift of hospitality that she and her kin offer.
But do not make the mistake of thinking her service to you is servitude. Brawl with the patrons, perhaps, or within your own party, or in the streets outside. Brawl with the very trials and tribulations that have brought you to this midnight haven seeking a violent outlet for your frustrations.
But do not brawl with the Waffle House Girl, for she has seen some sh*t, and the second you pass that counter in anger there's no power on Earth that can save you.
