This is a 0 XP starting deck for Gloria. Ignore the upgraded cards. For some reason, it would seem I can't add two copies for some cards so I used the upgraded versions as a reminder.
Similarly, the deck contains only one delve too deep and two drawn to the flame, but I wasn't allowed to add two of the latter.
Overall, this is a speculative deck. I haven't actually played it but I'm considering it for our next campaign. We usually play on expert so I'm curious to see how it can do. I'd appreciate any thoughts on improvements.
My thinking is, it will play as a generalist, doing a bunch of different useful things like fighting and investigating with a special emphasis on encounter management (because why else play Gloria).
Stargazing is particularly good I'd imagine because you can speed it up with your ability, hence I'd consider it a high priority upgrade.
Upgraded uncage the soul allows us to replay scrying which is a major element of our theme and Alyssa by herself can't do everything.
Power Word is the most import upgrade you'll do but arcane research takes care of that so I wouldn't worry. Once it's online, the power spike of this deck is huge I'd imagine. We all know the power of that word by now.
After that, go nuts. Do any quality of life upgrades you think will help. As a cherry on top I'd go for Sign Magick (3) and Summoned Servitor. It gives you so much action efficiency so why not?

Apr 14, 2023Giuseppe_octgn Thanks for the tips. I did consider the issue of card draw and admit it's a flaw I'm worrying about. You kind of want to get Alyssa going as soon as possible and arcane initiate takes up that ally slot, although I suppose a few turns won't hurt. I also considered scroll of prophecies. It's a work in progress. I'll have to ponder it. But I didn't want to delay publication because I'm really looking forward to feedback like yours. So, again, thanks for that. |
Apr 14, 2023My wife recently did a Power Word Gloria deck. She said it felt disjointed and unable to really shine. This was her third time playing Gloria and in the previous two times, she was the MVP of the campaign. This time, Gloria was still strong but not S-tier. The deck just tried to do too much which meant it spread itself thin and wasn't able to be amazing at anything. I hope you have better luck with it. :) |
Regarding the reason you can't add a second copy of some cards, I think that's because you have to manually add another Core Set in the Collection tab of the deck. The deck itself looks good, maybe since you're aiming for generalist you could add Arcane Initiate to improve card draw and search for the cards you need?
