Feeling curious about the "seal" mechanic? This deck goes to the (somewhat ridiculous) extreme.

This Mateo can easily manage 3 or 4 tokens sealed at once. This would probably be useless solo, and is a little risky with 2 player. Either way, it's extraordinarily helpful when the chaos bag gets heavy (e.g., partway through the agenda in Untamed Wilds).

2x Shrivelling is probably not the way to go, as I find that I rarely put it into play (in favor of more sealing spells). It feels heretical to run mystic without shrivels, but I think they're on the chopping block when I upgrade.

As a point of fact; while you can have 4 sealed at once, one of those will be the elder sign token. Not the best thing to have sealed at all times. (The Chthonian Stone is unique so you cannot have more than one in play, period.) Since you do not have many spells that require skill checks (I count Storm, Light, and Mists; Dust will be cut, as you said.) does the 1 copy of grounded work out much for you?

True, timing the seal on elder sign is essential. Considering it's probably best to save it for the Big Bad, waiting for the Codex and holding it is the way to go.

Hopefully, by that point all other possible seals are out, and Mateo can lead with a big auto-succeed, returning the token to the bag before other investigator's turns. In a group, this bag control for final encounters feels very powerful.

Great point about Grounded! I guess that's also on the block as I level up and relegate most of the wet work to other investigators.

Thanks for checking out this build!
