This deck is great for adapting to the needs of a scenario and can evolve quickly over the course of a campaign.
Use Dexter's Quick action to switch-up the spells you need on the fly. With a mix of powerful spells that require charges and their less powerful, but more consistent counterparts, he can change from clue searching to combat as needed. He can even play healer or evader.
Use 'Sign Magick' to increase Dexter's Arcane slots and expand the number of spells he can access. 'Uncage the Soul' and 'Robes of Endless Night' help reduce the cost to bring spells out too. These are key upgrades to spend XP on too as their upgraded forms will allow you to chain spells with a single action, return spells from the discard pile and play spells without triggering attacks of opportunity respectively.
You'll be free to spend the XP on those cards too as Dexter will be able to upgrade his spells for free after each scenario. 'Down the Rabbit Hole' and 'Arcane Research' mean the 1st spell you upgrade each time will be reduced by 3XP and the 2nd spell will be reduced by 1XP. Use these to quickly upgrade your key spells including Power Word where you can even gradually tick boxes for 1XP until you purchase an upgrade.
The down side is that it costs one additional XP to add a new card to the deck (For example: a new level 0 card being added would cost 2XP instead of 1XP), but there are still some key updates you may want to make.
'Crystalline Elder Sign' is a great swap for 'Crystal Pendulum' which boosts all your stats at the cost of sealing a +1 token or Elder Sign, but these tokens hurt you for certain spells so might not be such a bad idea.
Swapping 'Dayana Esperence' in for 'David Renfield' means you won't be able to gain resources as quickly or get his +1 Willpower, but the Doom-free ability to have 'Storm of Spirits' or 'Eldritch Inspiration' on tap and play one up to three times a game can be incredibly powerful. It means you can potentially knock each of these spells down to one copy each and replace them with 'Word of Command' to gain the ability to search for any spell you need,
'Winds of Power', 'Familiar Spirit', 'Four of Cups' and 'The Hierophant • V' are all great options too.
