  • Brethren of Ash (Standard): Win (2-player with Dexter Drake)

Joe Diamond deck played with Dexter Drake combat-focused deck for Brethren of Ash campaign.

The deck is focused on being the primary clue-gatherer while also having some combat support and assuming that Joe will be helping take care of some enemies. To that end, the deck includes both assets to increase intellect (Magnifying Glass, Local Map, Dorothy Simmons) but also event cards that let you gather clues while engaged with enemies or taking damage (Scene of the Crime, Lesson Learned). I opted for including Endurance x2 over something like Hunch because I found it helped to give him a better ability to fight, and it's better for him to do actual Investigate actions to take advantage of his special ability.

The deck also includes some cards that heal horror to compensate for Joe's poor Wisdom, which usually leads to him taking significant horror from treacheries (De-Escalate, Psychology Student).

Took 2 Manual Dexterity to compensate for his terrible Evade to hope to handle treachery cards when necessary.

Insidious Truths works very nicely to save up for when Joe needs to help take out a big bad and combos nicely with his card draw.

This is a bit of an expensive deck, so took Resource Cache and Bounty as some ways to spike resource gain. I'll likely need to revise this deck to have less expensive cards as I test it.

Upgrade Options:

  • Sharp Rhetoric (3) - get in starting hand to ensure he can pump up Wisdom for treacheries if needed.
  • Deduction (2) - better chance for more efficient clue gathering.
  • Magnifying Glass (1) - save action getting it out.
  • Police Dog (1) - better Police Dog to help with attacks and clue gathering.
  • The one that moves and heals you for free - gives him some healing support if needed.
