In preparation for Arkham Con 2026 I have taken it upon myself to make a series of pre-made Standalone decks all with different alt-art treatments. What started last year with a goal of 3 decks, a flex, cluever, and goon, blossomed into 7 with a range of wild designs. This year I have made a whopping 12 more decks! Here is a link to some low res files so you can see what they look like: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1J-EYuY12iov-oja2xg88ubVSyOuZRmfr?usp=sharing
Don't forget to check out the other decks, and say hey at Arkham Con if you see me! I might even have a an alt-art surprise for you. ;)
This deck evolved from a challenge run my group did of Edge of the Earth. Specifically I was tasked with making a viable sled dog deck. At first this might feel like a meme deck, but with proper support of the team it can come in mid-late game and pull some turns that are frankly ridiculous. Rod of Animalism gets more room for dogs and other animal allies while making them more affordable. Bonnie, Miss Doyle, Black Cat, and Eye of the Djinn all give strong stat boosts with Charlie's ability. Friends in Low Places, Calling in Favors, and Laboratory Assistant all gets you to those allies sooner. Take Heart and Easy Mark do that while also generating you needed resources, juiced a bit by Stylish Coat. Finally some fun tech is Summoned Hound with Chance Encounter and Flare. Putting a card into play is not the same thing as playing it. So using Chance Encounter and Flare let you get the Summoned Hound into play without adding Unbound Beast to your deck. So an extra 2 fight/investigate actions (3 with Bonnie) really help this deck make up for lost time. Regarding Sled Dogs, I think the mistake many folks make is thinking you need 4 copies of them in play to pull their weight. My experience throughout the campaign is that once you get two in play you are going to be cruising. They are solid fist boosts for Summoned Hound or Eye of the Djinn attacks, provide nice soak, and only get better as more get added. I often had a 4th copy in my hand by the end of scenarios and didn't need a them to get the job done.
Regarding the theme, the heavy slant towards animals quickly led me to a Pokémon Trainer as the idea. Given Charlie's position of political power Giovanni was who I settled on. Eye of the Djinn is the Earth Badge, Bonnie became the anime assistant Matori, Rod of Animalism is a Pokeball, and my particular moment of muse descending was Miss Doyle. Miss Doyle has been reskinned as Persian, Giovanni's signature Pokémon, with the 3 Dreamland cats that get added being the 3 regional versions of Meowth. All of the animal allies are now different Pokémon as well, with the exploding "Devil" as Electrode, Growlithe as Guard Dog, and Stoutland (the in universe sled dog) playing the same role here. Rounding out the Team Rocket theme, Friends in Low Places brings up Jesse and James, Easy Mark is the Rocket Game Corner, Calling in Favors is Team Rainbow Rocket from Sun and Moon, and Your Worst Nightmare is Mewtwo (Giovanni's greatest/worst creation).
In the scope of theme this is easily one of my best decks I have made thus far, and is an absolute blast to play!
