Carolyn Fern Investigates 1.1 (Chapter 2 Only)

Consistency wins more scenarios than high rolls.

This deck is built around one goal:

Build the engine as early as possible and let it snowball.

Rather than filling the deck with individually powerful cards, every inclusion is chosen to maximise early-game consistency.

The priority during mulligan is to find one or two key assets instead of drawing as many cards as possible.

Core assets include:

University Archivist Dreamer's Chronicle Magnifying Glass Experimental Psychology Private Practice Sharp Rhetoric

With six Tome assets in the deck, University Archivist functions as both additional hand slots and a Tome tutor, making the engine extremely consistent.

Dreamer's Chronicle and Experimental Psychology continuously generate horror, while Carolyn converts healing into additional value. Private Practice and Sharp Rhetoric further reward those healing triggers, allowing the deck to slowly generate both resources and tempo.

Instead of relying on expensive draw events, I intentionally run a high number of Skill cards.

Reasons:

they effectively reduce deck "weight" every Skill card remains useful even when not drawing cards they improve consistency during crucial skill tests successful investigations frequently replace themselves through card draw

The result is a deck that sets up quickly without flooding the hand with situational events.

Playstyle

This is not a combat investigator.

Instead, Carolyn stays close to the team's fighter.

Her job is:

investigate efficiently keep the Tome engine running support teammates through horror healing use Agility to escape dangerous enemies instead of fighting them

Because University Archivist is the heart of the deck, I almost never assign damage or horror to it. Protecting Archivist means protecting the entire engine.

Unflappable and multiple Agility boosts exist primarily as emergency escape tools rather than a secondary game plan.
