Playing as a fighter to support a clue getting Finn Edwards in The Circle Undone. Tempted to add Sixth Sense to give Akachi a bit of versatility, but not sure what to swap without sacrificing fight spells or potentially getting very competitive for arcane slots. Also Arcane Research looks quite promising as upgrading spells seems essential for a mystic deck.

If we aren't playing Arcane Research than we surely should be playing Ward; Ward's downside is not too relevant if we don't have the trauma from Research. Plus we are already playing a pretty decent amount of healing here, with both Hallowed Mirror and Fearless. Normally I would not bother with such cards if I wasn't going to take Arcane Research in the first place. Eldritch Inspiration also would benefit from Arcane Researches (since it's main purpose is a bit of extra survivability against the drawback of upgraded Shriveling/Storm of Spirits). In general this deck has made a lot of choices focused on survivability (Mirror, Deny Existence, Eldritch Inspiration, Fearless, Wither instead of Azure Flame) but doesn't take Arcane Research to benefit from the extra bulk, which is a bit of a head scratcher. The anti-synergy between Akachi's ability and the "chargeless" Mystic spells like Wither and Sixth Sense always makes me feel a bit uncertain about them in Akachi builds. Not only are the competitors such as Rite of Seeking/Azure Flame ~20-25% more powerful than normal (because you get an extra charge), you also can't use Wither/Sixth Sense to pay off Angry Spirits, which makes it a bit annoying to pay off since the only card we have with charges are Enchanted Blade and Shrivelling, and bouncing them with Spirit-Speaker. Also Wither is always a bit iffy in general. We have two assets that attack with Willpower and one that attacks with Combat, so Guts seems to make a lot more sense than Overpower here. And we do probably want Guts, since we are not taking any Willpower boosts in our Ally slot or Accessory. Arcane Initiate + Occult Lexicon + Hallowed Mirror is a pretty cute idea. I'm not sold on Chthonian Stone, because the cost curve of the deck is pretty high and honestly it just never impresses me much. Prophesy is generally weak, but at least it is fun I guess. Imo the only advantage it has over Unexpected Courage is the Practiced trait, but of course Akachi can't take advantage of that.
