Dunwich has been hard on Agnes. After the events at the Miskatonic University and the Gambling club Agnes took up bad habits to cope with the trauma. More specifically Agnes has a terrible addition to her Smoking Pipe and Painkillers. 'Do not exceed the recommended dosage.'

This deck is up to the events of Blood on the Altar. I love shinny new cards so spent some influence on replacing cards for 0 XP cards. Unfortunately this way of upgrading has meant a few one offs are present but the core of the deck remains the same. Agnes is a monster hunter murdur machine.

Why Painkillers and Smoking Pipe? It's to use and can be utilised any phase. Painkillers makes you take a sanity firing Agnes Baker's passive ability pushing across free damage. Smoking Pipe resets you back to square one. Combo this with Forbidden Knowledge and you can push two free damage a turn (one per phase).

Agnes is designed to accompany Rex while he gathers evidence Agnes takes care of the scum. Other than using her passive ability I have included Shrivelling, Fire Axe and what was likely a mistake upgrade an axe to Song of the Dead. I don't have a huge appreciation for Fire Axe but it works with Agnes Baker and Forbidden Knowledge. Spending your resources to get plus one damage, then using Forbidden Knowledge for a sanity, resource and free damage then attacking again for a further 2 damage pending success. That's 5 damage in 2 ! I'm probably gonna bite the bullet and pop a second axe back in as it did some good work.

Honestly this deck can really push the damage across. It can easily get up to 6 or more damage a round. It deals with those pesky 1-2hp monsters in a flash with no spent.

There are a few cards to help with investing but it's not a main focus. "Look what I found!", Unexpected Courage and Rise to the Occasion help here. I decided on "Look what I found!" over Drawn to the Flame but both are fantastic. Lucky! can also help and is a no brainier for any deck that uses .

Anyway this deck is super fun and feels thematic. Give it a go why don't ya!

Nice deck. Nice to see a full on damage dealer agnes build. I am curious about the choice of Rise to the Occasion over Drawn to the Flame for occasional clue hunting.

Also how do you find Arcane Initiate vs Peter Sylvestre in this deck. Pete's sanitity regeneration has natural synergy with the Painkillers/Smoking Pipe combo letting you both soak horror beyond that you have chosen to take and even letting you heal horror back via (an admittedly slightly convoluted) Smoking Pipe-> Painkillers -> Peter Sylvestre chain. Bonus Agi is perhaps off spec but it will protect you from physical damage encounters or if needs must 4 agi is pretty decent evasion on smaller mobs. Theres always the option to upgrade pete for the will bonus at a later stage

Thanks @StartWithTheName. I popped Rise to the Occasion in last min with my 2xp from the Essex Express. It's not exclusively for clue gathering but helped. I would probably consider replacing it for Defiance as an alternative. I think Drawn to the Flame may have been better than "Look what I found!" but I didn't wanna use to many slots for clue gathering. With Rex as a partner I haven't regretted a thing.

I love Peter but he doesn't combo with Agnes' ability. Also I hate not being able to find Shrivelling and Arcane Initiate is great here. It's cheep and being is choice. I probably lost value over time by subbing out other spells however.

When Akachi comes out Peter Sylvestre will almost definitely be in there. Then again Akachi will likely be a more rounded investigator.

Fair enough. All good reasons :) certianly i can see anyone going either initiate or pete in agnes. I wouldnt say Pete doesnt combo with agnes. obviously when you assign horror to pete it doesnt trigger her ability, but it does let you put horror on pete when you didnt intend to trigger the ability - basically saving the "sanity charge" for a later day. That was my meaning really. But I agree, finding those damage cards early is going to be high priority too in a damage focused build.

I like the design on Defiance. Ive not played with it yet but my suspicion is that its written in part to combo with spells to let you lower your odds on triggering a spells icon draw down sides. In agnes that probably means using it on shrivilling attacks on 2 HP remaining enemy (where taking the horror is a disadvantage).

@StartWithTheNameGood points. I agree Defiance would have been a nice call in this deck especially over Rise to the Occasion which after a few games I find too restrictive.
