This deck is part of a new series I'll be publishing: The Independent Faux Seekers Series.

This deck is an alternative to another Roland deck in the series. This version does not have Milan in it and is provided so you can play Roland alongside another deck from the series that uses Milan (Pete, Jenny, or Jim).

The basic idea of the series is that you might want to give yourself some extra challenge and play a game without any seekers (currently by far the strongest faction). The goal is to provide decks that accomplish two goals:

  • Allow a significant amount of clue finding
  • Allow the investigator to mostly take care of himself or herself

The second point means that these decks could be played solo or as an efficient part of a pair-play. Typically, it is most efficient for investigators to split up because otherwise you have to invest a lot of moves in each of you visiting all the locations.

In this version of the Roland deck, Roland is not expected to get clues by direct investigation. He will be getting clues by killing enemies (using his special ability) and by 6 cards that give him a free clue: Art Student, Evidence!, and Working a Hunch. The last two of these serve double duty in that they can help another investigator investigate by contributing 2 .

Note that Art Student and Dr. William T. Maleson are both excellent horror soaks. Dr. William T. Maleson can also be used to block Rotting Remains and other very dangerous cards for Roland. Note that Dr. William T. Maleson is also there to combo with Inquiring Mind and Roland's .38 Special as you can strategically drop a clue on a location. If you then kill an enemy on that location you get the clue back.

Please see other deck for a justification for Kukri.
