Testing On your own
I wanted to try On Your Own. This card came out in Forgotten Age.
I have tried a ton of On your own Wendy decks using only the core game and the first three expansions (Dunwich Legacy, Carcosa and Forgotten Age). I tried this deck in two player mode with Roland Banks. Wendy survivor-cluever and Roland Banks killer-testless-cluever. I tried Scavenging, Lantern, Flashlight, perception. I tried a ton of two-cost events and Dark Horse. The thing is, if you want to make this card useful, you need to play (and have) a lot of events. That makes difficult to add items and playing Scavenging.
I tested all of those decks in Midnight Masks, the House Always wins and The Last King, Unspeakable Oath and other scenarios.
Problems with these decks
And these just don't work. You can save a ton of money in just a few turns, but your hand size just decreases. As soon as you play an event that is not re-usable, your discard pile becomes quite useless for Wendy's Amulet. "Look what I found!" and Lantern work well when finding clues, but in many scenarios you don't have to find clues (see the House always wins (first half) and The Last King, or Spires of Carcosa). This deck lacks card draw. Wendy can draw with Rabbit Foot or Lucky Case. Failing is seldom and this deck doesn't support the succeed by X archetype. The other is pickpocketing, but evading is a sub-par strategy.
Obviously, this decks also lack soak. If you think about it, Cherished Keepsake and Leather Coat are moneywise cheap, but they require two cards in your deck, and drawing them. Many allies require only one card, only one play action, to soak 2 and 2. I replaced the Leather Coat with Trench Coat because I have the money.
Conclusion
My question is. "Why was this card printed in this expansion?". None of the four investigators printed work with it and this card pool. I haven't tried Calving Wright or Pete, but I think that this card requires a ton of work to function, or it just plainly doesn't work with Wendy. Tell me your opinions.

Dec 18, 2023Have you considered trying out the advanced signature cards? It’s free here: www.fantasyflightgames.com Wendy's Amulet lets her play any event, not just the topmost one. It’s a marginal improvement, though you’ll have to also pair it with the accompanying weakness. |

I have played 2 packs Calvin centered around this card! I have 0~1 resource very often and ended up making Perseverance a lot more reactive. I could use Lucky! / "Look what I found!" / Against All Odds more liberally without fearing that I could have a turn where Perseverance unplayable. Since core has Leather Coat, I just buy Elder Sign Amulet for the other side of soak.
