Torrent Skull Akachi is a combo dependent deck that revolves around using Torrent of Power on accumulated charges on Decorated Skull for great effect.
Rite of Seeking and Shrivelling are your key arcane slot spells. Drawn to the Flame backs you up on clue gathering, and Storm of Spirits supports your damage output.
Arcane Initiate helps you with card draw and David Renfield gives the bonus will you lack through not running Holy Rosary or St. Hubert's Key. Either of these allies can be killed basically on demand, through Forbidden Knowledge, Ward of Protection, Painkillers, or Smoking Pipe. Whenever they die, you will gain a charge on your Skull.
The two Delve Too Deeps will help you gain XP towards upgrading your core arcane slot spells as quickly as possible. You also can always just play Ward on the card you draw with Delve if it's a treachery (same concept is available for Drawn to the Flame).
Quantum Flux exists only as an emergency button. You may drop it once you gain XP, or even pick a different card entirely according to your preference.
While the deck does rely on one combo, most of your core Akachi cards are in there anyway, allowing this to be a solid deck even if the big ticket combo never happens.
I highly recommend doing this deck multiplayer over solo. The main reason for this is Rite of Seeking discovers more than one clue when it goes off, as does Drawn to the Flame. On solo, this does not work out well for you on "one clue per investigator" locations, but on multiplayer, it will help you clear rooms efficiently. Further, by nature of being Akachi, you are not going to be super reliable all the time, so having a partner to fill in the gaps can help support you.

May 24, 2018Decorated Skull is taking that slot and crucial to the combo |
May 25, 2018Love the combo. If you were looking for boosts without cometing for the accessory slot, Arcane Studies might do the trick. You could drop it after youve upgraded to Shrivelling (3+) and/or Rite of Seeking (4) since they have the inbuilt +. I suspect you could get away without the Smoking Pipe at least if you wanted the slot back. |
May 25, 2018A very thematic combo for Akachi. This deck seems like great fun, looking forward to try it. |
Jul 06, 2018I have been running this recently and I really like it...when I can get the cards out. Some scenarios I can combo Decorated Skull with Spirit-Speaker as well, and I never see Torrent of Power. Akachi (and Mystics) generally does not have very good card draw right now, so it is hard to get this combo going. However, it IS very fun and effective when you get all the pieces in place. Great deck. |

no rosary? I think you'll need the extra boost especially in hard
