My favorite part of the single core experience is spending my hard earned victory points. Each investigator has quite a few interesting choices for XP cards and the choice of what to take out to make room is even more agonizing. Below I have a list what card swaps from the Skids starter deck I would make in a Night of Zealot campaign in roughly the order I would make them in and why.

Advancements

  • Beat Cop --> Leo De Luca (1), Leo plays right into the skids strategy, buying the upgraded verison lets you run 2!

  • Knife --> Police Badge (2), Another bonus action card and you don't need knife with all your other weapons.

  • Pickpocketing or Knife --> Hot Streak (4), Money is going to fuel your extra actions and this is a lot of money. Cut pickpocketing here because your getting a bit better at fighting now and you just spend 2 credits to get an action to draw a card with the skids ability, but knife is still a good cut here.

  • First Aid --> Sure Gamble (3), the gamble is a speed card that will let you beat a test that you might had to wait other to beat, first aid on the other hand is just a bit too slow to be worth the slot for me. If you want to keep it around one of the damage events could get cut instead.

  • Knife or Pickpocketing --> Extra Ammunition (1), this will be your second copy of .45 or .41 that replaces a knife, you can cut pickpocketing here if you already cut both your knives.

I'm new to the game and just started playing some solo investigators on Night of The Zealot, so appreciate your advice. However, isn't Leo a unique card and so you can only have one copy in your deck?

Unique cards limit you from playing the unique card in your hand if there is card with the same name already in play (even if that card is controlled by another player).

You may still play up to 2 copies of card with the same name in your deck even if those cards are unique.

Hope this helps!

Side note: There is a mechanic in later expansions called Exceptional on cards such as The Gold Pocket Watch (4). These cards are limit one per deck in additional to costing double influence and can only be in one investigator's deck.
