"With a sigh, you retreat to a dark corner backstage to escape the sounds of stagehands preparing for the next scene. You try to quell your emotions and replace your thoughts with those of Cassilda's--her hopes, her fears, her fate."

This Lola Hayes decklist is inspired by one interpretation of the The Path to Carcosa storyline, one that stems from the Doubt path: that the campaign is, in fact, the play, and the investigators are experiencing it in the theater of their minds. And with Lola as The Actress in the play, it follows that her experience is not her own, but her character Cassilda's.

As a character on a stage, her experience is a solitary one, full of dramatic soliloquies and introspective asides. There are no Allies, representing the solitary journey of searching for Carcosa, while the cards in her deck represent stage props like Enchanted Blade and Hallowed Mirror, dramatic moments like Stealth, "Look what I found!", and Survival Instinct, and displays of Cassilda's qualities like True Grit and Fearless. And of course, two copies of Drawn to the Flame are necessary to capture the moment when Cassilda finally meets Frank and Peter at a key turning point in the story.

Playing the deck revolves around staying alive while using both assets and skill cards to boost important checks. Try to use Drawn to the Flame and Working a Hunch on high-shroud locations, Vicious Blow on 3-health enemies that are troublesome to evade, as well as Stealth and Survival Instinct to keep away from non-Hunter enemies. Try to hold assets in hand until they're needed, in order to avoid the nasty Crisis of Identity, and plan your role switches to get good use of them while risking a Crisis. Try to play "passive" assets like Magnifying Glass and Holy Rosary on a turn when you can immediately swap away from the matching role to stay covered from a Crisis.

This Lola Hayes build is very versatile, as she is armed with weapons, evasion, clue-gathering, and a variety of skill cards, and it captures one interpretation of the nature of the Path to Carcosa campaign. Enjoy the show!
