This is intended for group, not solo, play.

Forbidden Knowledge is your primary resource generator and used to fuel other abilities. Use it freely to also hit monsters for damage for added action economy. Because of this, Fearless is there to help keep your sanity under control.

When you don't need to damage a monster use your Arcane Initiate to get spells in your hand. If the Doom threshold is high, intentionally kill your Arcane Initiate. Yea, Agnes is a little dark at times!

If possible get Heirloom of Hyperborea out early; using Arcane Initiate get spells in your hand early and cast, getting more card draw. Remember, Dark Memory is a spell as well!

Abuse the zero skill test rule with your Flashlight in shroud 2 areas; you'll succeed with any pull but the auto-fail token. Stack the deck with Scrying and then use Drawn to the Flame for Obscuring Mists areas or too high shroud values.

Leather Coat is for a little more survivability but your friends should be tanking for you. Skill cards (Overpower, Perception, and Unexpected Courage) are there to support your friends.

Holy Rosary replaces Heirloom of Hyperborea when you've cast most of your spells or in tougher scenarios where you need more sanity. It also boosts your Shrivelling, your only attack method. In later scenarios a 6 attack is not a sure thing!

As for upgrades, Blinding Light is good, as long as it's your last action of the phase. Grotesque Statue is also good and upgrade your Lucky!. I'm not impressed with Book of Shadows quite yet since you only have Scrying and Shrivelling using Arcane slots (for now).

For what it's worth, this is almost identical to the deck I have been playing and it works perfectly fine solo. The only problem is that if you don't get a Shriveling by a certain threshold in some scenarios, you just won't be able to deal with the harder enemies.

Truthfully, solo, the only shortcoming is her relative inability to investigate reliably. There are some cards that can help with that but with bad draw a game of Agnes could go south quickly. Agnes is dependent upon her tools and takes some time to ramp, hence she's a little better in a group to help mitigate her shortcomings. Once you have everything up or in your hand (like Shrivelling) she's a machine!
