Solo Skids O'Toole build for standard difficulty. I was quite impressed by the brute force of the deck. Most probably posses highest damage output in the game.

Gameplay:

Part 1 - The Gathering is for tailored deck easy, so just stomp through everything and get at least 4 Victory Points. Leave your House standing. Buy 2x Sure Gamble and upgrade 1x Leo De Luca. (Out: 1x 0-lvl Leo de Luca and 2x Physical Training).

Part 2 - Midnight Masks depends little bit on your luck. You want Leo quickly on the table and start investigating locations on the right and bottom of the grid, where is lower shroud. Due to Burglary, you should be able to manage enough resources to buy some extra clues in Northside. I was able to get 5 Cultists down, usually by stomping in combat. Upgrade for 5 Experience is 1x Beat Cop, 1x Leo De Luca 1x Police Badge. (Out 0-lvl Leo, 0-lvl Beat Cop, 1x Guts).

Part 3 - The Devourer Below can be frustrating, if you draw totally wrong locations, startup hand and manage to get into play some terrible things, you can easily loose the game on beginning. Yeou desperetely need to get down any foe as soon as it appears. And focus on to getting clues. Again Luca in starting hand is good. You can sacrifice the Police Badge even in the mid of the game, sometimes it is just needed.

Card Selection:

Main idea of the deck is to get down any foe possible in the same turn it appears on the table, which is best way probably how to get through the Devourer Below scenario. You should start always with 1 weapon in hand. Best way to go is Machete as it is cheapest and most reliable as you should always get the enemy down in the opening turn so packs are rare. .41 Derringer and .45 Automatic are here just to enlarge the amount of possible draws in opening hand, you always need at least one weapon with +X damage. Also other stuff is dedicated to wounding your enemies: Backstab is quite expensive but the hardest hitting and most reliable thing you have. Sneak Attack is dedicated for some creeps with too high Fight or when you just do not have any weapon. Dynamite Blast is basically only useful for saving you movement, it is good card, but expensive for this deck and most probably it is possible to play without it. Beat Cop is another excellent way how to get some enemies down, especially the upgraded version.

Your basic Intellect is 3 which is not so bad for investigating, however, this will get you usually around 50% chances for investigating and you will consume actions or Flashlight charges. Leo De Luca is essential ally speeding your deck up. To get your resources full, use when possible Burglary. Do not forget, that you can use this in locations like Hallway and Rivertown with low shroud even when there is no clue on it.

Skills are common selection to cover your essential checks. Unexpected Courage can be changed to Opportunist, however I am not lucky with that skill.

Your biggest disadvantage is vulnerability to will based treachery cards, which can really send you 6 feet deep. I find Elder Sign Amulet too Expensive in experience points, so I use Police Badge instead, which can also be sacrificed for 2 more actions or +2 to will check.

Lovely write-up, particularly like the recommended xp purchases. I'm a bit surprised by only the 1-of Guts, especially as Skids has the lowest of any of the core set investigators. Were you using Physical Training to boost for tests, or just luckily avoiding the nasty willpower-testing treacheries?

Basicly you just spent Unexpected Courage for them. There actually is a possibility to change Manual Dexterity to Guts in case you want to feel safewith the deck. I however got killed by horror only once in maybe 10-15 games of Devourer Below. Physical Training is only a filler for The Gathering until you get some experience to spent on Sure Gamble, which is by the way best way how to save your day in situations like UmĂ´rdhoth's Wrath gone wrong.

Lovely answer - yeah, 2 x Courage & Guts and 1 x Dexterity might be my first tweak but I'll give your list a proper try before going further. Great point about Gamble - that's so potent!

Let me know how you liked it. I admitt that Guts seems to be better option probably over the Manual Dexterity. I evolved to this form of deck from some more veasive and agility build which I started with and found underperforming. However I did not reflected the skills choices when changes happened. Agility is not often used stat now, as you should kill the enemy instead of evading.
