In this guide, I'll be talking about an example Akachi Onyele deck then going over possible upgrades using only cards from two Core Sets and the cards from their native cycle as a resource for new players. If you do not have multiple core sets, I highly recommend either purchasing a second, or proxying the cards you are missing.

Akachi has three main components to her deckbuilding. She can play level 0 Occult cards, which doesn't really matter in the Path to Carcosa cycle. She can use up to level 5 purple cards, which is kind of a given. Finally, the meat: "Uses (charges)" level 0-4. While the last part doesn't really tie into her basic deck, it offers some neat options for experienced cards.

Base deck will have you fairly reliant on Shrivelling to do your monster killing, with Storm of Spirits to clean up mobs of low-tier enemies and Arcane Initiate to dig them up. David Renfield is here to help pay for your resource-intensive cards while also providing some health soak. The rest of the deck is odds and ends; skills to help teammates and make sure your spells hit, Ward of Protection to keep you safe and Drawn to the Flame to pick up some clues. You could also look at playing Alchemical Transmutation and/or Scrying if you'd like more charge assets, or are concerned about Angered Spirits.

Akachi's upgrades are where she really shines. Arcane Initiate and Ward of Protection are just straight upgrades, and Book of Shadows (and perhaps later Book of Shadows) will get more even more millage out of your charges spells. Grotesque Statue is one of the best experienced cards in the game and Akachi gets more of it. If you feel the need to branch out you can pick up Arcane Insight or Suggestion, or if you're particularly experience rich you can pick up Seal of the Elder Sign, a very powerful-feeling card.

Hopefully this has helped some new players to deck build with limited resources. Initially I'll probably be jumping around between the cycles for these write-ups to get around two done per cycle, then I'll go back and try to fill stuff in.

you might want to consider including more cards that use charges, at very least with Angered Spirits in mind. 6 to 8 ish charge spells are usually a good idea for akachi
