This version of Agnes is good individually or in a group as the goal is to be flexible. Rather than relying on individual evade cards (that water down her card draws) I prefer to rely on dig deep to get out of dodge by boosting Dexterity. It's also helpful if you absolutely have to land a punch for Shrivelling as well.

Drawn to the Flame and "Look What I found!" form the backbone of clue gathering for Agnes since her Investigating is somewhat lacking. Take the risk checks on low shrouds but don't even both on anything above 2, use Rabbit's foot and mill for a solution.

Arcane Initiate (if played properly) is a great way to sift down through the deck, paired with Heirloom of Hyperborea (if you can get it) can lead to some great card generation. However, don't get too attached to her as an ally since her and Fearless will be the first cards to be replaced by Books of Shadows. From there I save up for two Grotesque Statues (replacing Unexpected Courage) to help control randomness from Chaos tokens.

Accessory slots are a bit competitive in this deck, while it's nice to have the extra 1 Will from Rosary beads, remember that it's primary purpose is to keep you from going bonkers so if there isn't an easy target for her ability, let something else soak it up. You'll need the brains.

Remember that Dark Memory is a spell, this is both good and bad. Good because if you have Heirloom of Hyperborea out then you draw a card for your trouble, but bad because the Arcane Initiate will grab it if she sees it. Also why you'll be dumping her early.

As for other experience spends (if you get up that high). I usually upgrade Blinding Light before I worry about any Survivor cards, even then I'm more likely to replace a Rosary Beads with an Elder Sign Amulet. If you need Aquinnah then you're not managing your horror/damage ability correctly.

SPOILERS WARNING!

Aquinnah is not such a bummer as you describe it IMO. She's might be useful at fighting Umôrdhoth. When going solo there's a high chance you'll leave a few cultists behind in scenario 2. Particularly leaving Drew "available" might be a very positive boon and an argument to include her for that last battle.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR CORE SET AHEAD

I agree that in a fight with Umôrdhoth Aquinnah can be quite useful, but this is hardly the norm. In my opinion one of Agnes' great strengths is that she can deal damage free of action, separate from a target she may be engaging. It should be that you if you're engaged with two low health enemies at once, you should be able to deal with them both with at MAXIMUM 2 actions. If you're doing it right and have any amount of luck, 1 action. (EX Shrivelling on Ghoul Minion #1, draw , take 1 horror, deal 1 damage to Ghoul Minion #2, tap forbidden knowledge to finish it off.)

Unless you're absolutely swarmed (and thus have other problems) you should be able to narrow any conflict with multiple enemies down to 1 or less fairly quickly. If this is the norm for combat as solo Agnes then Aquinnah's usefulness is pretty narrow. Considering she takes up your ally slot, I'd rather leave it free for Arcane Initiate or Lita Chantler since they both increase her efficiency.

So what about Umôrdhoth then? Well, in my opinion with Solo Agnes, if he got summoned then you're prospects are pretty grim. I'm of the opinion that you should be able to finish off all the cultists in scenario 2 to prepare for scenario 3. With the Mystic bag-o-tricks and Agnes' ability set, you should be able to parlay with most of the cultists (Ruth Turner being the best example, walk in, 2x resource on Dig Deep or commit , blinding light, add to victory display). The Masked Hunter can be a problem but you should be able to evade/kite him until you can Shrivel, Shrivel, Forbidden Knowledge, step over corpse of Masked Hunter on the way to something more productive.

If you did manage to get all the cultists in scenario 2 then scenario 3 is really just about time. Depending on what other mythos cards got shuffled into the encounter deck, you should mostly be able to evade or focus down anything that spawns while you speed around trying to find the ritual site. Once there Disrupting the Ritual becomes fairly simple. Drawn to the Flame to get clues, then test twice to put clues on and you're home in time for dinner.

I just realize I violated the phase limit for Agnes in my example for combat. Oh well, Ghoul Minion a Swarm of Rats then. :P
