It has been a while since my last post on Roland (https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/271218)

As the cardpool grew larger, so did the possibilities for Roland Banks to take on the expert level on his own.

This deck uses mostly cards that do not require you to make skill tests.

For Cluevering: Art Student, Working a Hunch, Scene of the Crime and of course Rolands signature ability.

Enemy Management: Occult Lexicon, Enchanted Blade, Guard Dog, Dynamite Blast, and Toe to Toe

Sanity: Sanity is Rolands greatest weakness. To cover this we have Art Student and Laboratory Assistant for soak and Hallowed Mirror + Logical Reasoning for heal. Do not hesitate to provoke an attack of opportunity to replace an ally with another one who serves better in a situation.

UPGRADES FIRST This deck is built for Stick to the Plan 6 XP is quite a lot and you might not get it in the first scenario but when you have it you will start each other scenario with 6 resources (due to Astounding Revelation ) and with on action you can get to 9 resources (Emergency Cache). And of course immediate access to one of the most helpfull cards: Dynamite Blast

SECOND Mano a Mano replacing Vicious Blow Two testless damage are just indispensable

Good Alternatives: I was not so happy about prepared for the worst and vicious blow. Prepared didnt found me a weapon two times (maybe 3 weapons are too few for that) And Vicious Blow requires you to grab a chaos token.. and should therefore be combined with steadfast or inquiring mind.

I would probably cut 1-2 of those and replace them with Dodge

Path to Carcosa Testplaying (Spoiler Alert) So far I have reached scenario 4

Curtain Call This one is pretty tough for a first scenario. Mulligan hard for either occult lexicon or Enchanted Blade (Poltergeist will get you otherwise). Save the Dynamite for Emissary if you can. Other than that make use of the Lobby action and try to bypass the Emissary via shortcut from the balcony to the theatre, when that thing has moved to the lobby.

Unfortunately Cover Up showed up and gained me 1 Mental Trauma

The Last King I only got 4 XP out of Curtain Call so I had no upgrades going into the Last King. Here I focussed on Ashley and Ishimaru. For the latter one I got some lucky draws out of the bag while commiting Steadfast and Logical Reasoning to the tests. Cover Up didnt show up this time (phew) Finally got my 2 XP needed for Stick to the Plan

Echoes of the Past With Stick to the Plan which in this case means starting with 9 resources after the first action and the good old dynamite at hand I felt pretty comfortable.

Mulligan hard for Guard Dog and try to place the Cultists in the Quiet Halls. Advance the Act deck by the right time. Guard Dog provoking attack of opportunities to get clues felt awesome. Saved the dynamite for the oathspeaker and managed to survive this scenario. Cover Up did show up tough. - Probably gonna Mulligan hard for Logical Reasoning or the Hallowed Mirror in the next one. tbc
