This deck is meant for a 4 investigators party. Jim is played as a modest battlehealer support. He plays alongside with a Guardian ( tank), a Seeker ( clue oriented) and a Rogue ( ressource oriented). Thematically, I wanted to play Jim as a poor musician, raised by the street laws.
The starting idea was to use Jim's Trumpet ability to support the party by healing sanity. Indeed, the probability to draw a token is great with 4 players. So to support this idea I looked for 1x Clarity of Mind and 1x Emergency Aid to set a basic healer concept.
Then I wanted to get the most of Jim's ability to get a better average modifier than the other investigators. On the Dunwich campaign his average modifier should be around -1.3. I added the 1x Ritual Candles to improve this.
To get more constancy on my skill tests I went for a Dark Horse deck to get 5 4 4 3 most of the time. This should be good for pratically 2/3 of the skill tests. I put 2x Dark Horse and 1x No Stone Unturned to get it rapidly (around 55% chance to get it in my starting hand this way).
To stick to the idea of a poor street musician and to get the most of the Dark Horse deck, I choose 1x Arcane Studies to usefully spend my resources when necessary, 2x Forbidden Knowledge to get resources only when I decide to, not to interfer the Dark Horse power, 2x Uncage the Soul to deploy some free firepower with 2x Shrivelling / 1x Storm of Spirits.
For weaker ennemies I choose 2x Knife because they are cheap and gets a +1 automatically in combat adding more constancy. I can discard them with a bonus when needed to get the Jim's Trumpet and/or 1x the Ritual Candles ready.
2x Arcane Initiate are here to get rapidly the Shrivelling spells and to stand Jim's sanity loss on Forbidden Knowledge. 2x Fearless / 2x Holy Rosary have the same goal. The "no resource" 1x Leather Coat is here to stand the damage loss especially on the Final Rhapsody.
This Jim Culver deck should be a Mario deck, no real weakness, no real strength, but a solid and consistent deck for almost all circumstances.
