This deck is part of a new series I'll be publishing: The Independent Faux Seekers Series.
The basic idea is that you might want to give yourself some extra challenge and play a game without any seekers (currently by far the strongest faction). The goal is to provide decks that accomplish two goals:
- Allow a significant amount of clue finding
- Allow the investigator to mostly take care of himself or herself
The second point means that these decks could be played solo or as an efficient part of a pair-play. Typically, it is most efficient for investigators to split up because otherwise you have to invest a lot of moves in each of you visiting all the locations.
This deck has 8 assets that can help Pete investigate: 2x Magnifying Glass, 2x Newspaper, 2x Dr. Milan Christopher, and 2x Dark Horse, so you should easily get at least one to start your adventure with and it should not take long before you have 2 out.
The 2x Leather Coat + Scavenging gives you a recurring damage soak, and Peter Sylvestre gives you a perpetual horror soak. The Scavenging and Rabbit's Foot give you ways to replenish your deck to help you ready Duke using "Ashcan" Pete special ability.
The Shrivelling and 2x Fire Axe are backup options in case Pete wants to attack twice and does not have cards to discard. Fire Axe.
Pete wants Charisma early so he can have allies soak for him if necessary and also so he can have the excellent Dr. Milan Christopher and Peter Sylvestre out together.
After that Scrapper and Peter Sylvestre are solid xp upgrades.
Note that Scrapper, Fire Axe, and to a certain extent Lucky! all synergize with Dark Horse.
