The goal of 2.0 investigator starter decks is to "make them better" only with core set and Dunwich set cards. Newer cards can be added after finishing the Dunwich campaign so one can explore new stories with new cards at the same pace as years ago, when we didn’t have such vast opportunities as we do now.

Nathaniel is a punch man, ideally he is one punch man, he wants his Boxing Gloves, so first thing you have to get them for him. Either you can luckily draw them in your opening hand or you can search for them with Randall Cho, or most likely with Prepared for the Worst. If you succeed, it should be gg from now on. With 5+1 strength, defeating most of your enemies shouldn’t be a problem, and for every win there should be something sweet as a reward. In this case, searching the top 6 cards of your deck for a Spirit event card and adding it to your hand. There are 12 Spirit event cards in this deck, so you "should" always draw something and just keep the engine running.

Biggest downside of Nathaniel is his inability to investigate properly. With this deck, you still won’t be the master seeker, but it’s not your job anyway. Never mind — with Evidence! and Grete Wagner, you’ll still be able to fetch some clues for your team so you don’t have to feel like "I’m only good for one thing".

Actually, you can do even more — with "If it bleeds..." and Emergency Aid you can heal not only yourself but also your partners (or their allies). Stand Together brings resources for everyone, and cards like "Get over here!" and Taunt can and will save your co-players from harm.

You can become harmed — with 9 lives, Grete and self-healing at your disposal (Randall can heal you too!), you can take a lot of bullets. What’s not "that good" is your sanity. True, base 6 is not terrible, but not great either. "If it bleeds..." is one answer, Flesh Ward another.

Now, with everything above, you should be more than ready, so put your Boxing Gloves on, hide behind Flesh Ward, team up with Grete Wagner, and your invincibility should be inevitable!

One funny thing — I’ve never played AH: LCG (actually I did, but it doesn’t really count). This is only theorycrafting based on information from ArkhamDB and my experience from other card/board games. Is this deck going to shine? I don’t know, but I’m somehow pretty sure that it’s at least much better than the preconstructed version. I’ve never ever seen a preconstructed deck that was really ready to play the moment you unpack it — such things simply don’t happen. True story. :-)
