Leo & Finn Team-Up Deck:

  • Idea is to have Finn and Leo work together to make Knuckleduster's work well excellently.
  • Finn's role is to evade everything and Leo's role is to punch it.
  • Decorated Skull makes more sense than Lone Wolf since Leo is going to be doing the dispatching. That will charge the skull and give him a card draw to bring out Calling in Favors or Physical Training.
  • Meant to be played in 2 player games, no idea what it'd be like in 4 player.
  • Not recommended for TFA as sometimes you don't want things to die there.
  • Heavily dependent on being in same location often, but not always.
  • Clue gathering is a bit slow.
  • Difficulty: Standard to Hard
  • Scenarios tested: Core / Carnivale
  • See Finn's deck here: Finn Edwards

MULLIGAN GUIDE:

  • You want Allies and Physical Training, and a weapon. if you don't see any of those things, mulligan 4-5 cards.
  • Mulligan for Dario El-Amin, as he's unique, can pay for himself, and you have one more copy in your deck if you need/want him back. Remember Leo's means you don't spend an action while playing Dario, so spend one (if able) to pay yourself for playing him.
  • Dario is here to pay us, in monies and in blood, so he can be sacrificed to Bought in Blood. DO NOT SACRIFICE THE DOGGO.

PILOTING

I've never made a piloting write-up before, so this should be a long incoherent ramble.

The key to this deck, as I play it, is Dario (to a large extent Finn as well obvs) and Leo's ability and his allies. Spend those resources to fund your Physical Training, and commit Overpower / Vicious Blow or Daring Maneuver to save one or two resources. Just make sure you're +3 above the target's . Miss a Knuckleduster hit? Use Dodge!

Random hand: Physical training, Knuckledusters, Dario, Beat Cop, Dodge.

  • Play Dario with Leo's ability, then use your first actual action to exhaust Dario and get money back. Dario is there to take damage, and give us resources when there are no monsters to kill, and when we do not have to set up for any other task. If Bought in Blood shows up he will willingly give his life for his good friend Leo, and possibly make a surprise comeback later in the scenario.
  • Play Physical training. Getting this down early as possible is a help, and in some scenario's getting it late won't be that rough, with all the +skill cards you have like Overpower, Vicious Blow, Daring Maneuver, etc.
  • By your third action you'll have enough to play Knuckledusters.

Handling Bought in Blood:

  • Leo is used to his friends dying, so no use crying over spilt milk, unless it's the Doggo, Leo loves that damn dog.
  • If you only get one ally in your hand, mulligan for another. If you don't get one play the one in your hand ASAP. You don't want to end up with 2 or more allies in your hand when Bought in Blood shows up.
  • If you draw Guard Dog in your opening hand you want to mulligan for a second ally if possible. Although Dario and Beat Cop are both expendable Dario should always be your first option because he cannot be slotted under Mitch Brown. The Guard Dog offers more utility with its damage to help kill things.
  • As an added bonus, when Guard Dog has 2 damage on it, you can play Calling in Favors to refresh the Dog's health, then play it again for up to 5 damage (Thanx MOTUX).
  • Leo's Expendables List (most expendable to least expendable): 1. Dario 2. Mitch Brown 3. Beat Cop 4. Guard Dog (Don't u Dare).

Knuckledusters: Why? They don't work! No, maybe they don't. But the damage you can do when used with Finn Edwards's in combination with Leo's 4 makes them really appealing to me. In this deck you also have the reliable Machete, which you can use if you don't want or can't risk the blowback from Knuckledusters. But when you get swamped by two enemies Knuckledusters will save you, and the damage isn't as conditional as switchblades or machete.

Mitigating Retaliate Damage:

  • Finn Edwards is your Retaliate mitigation. He needs to evade/exhaust enemies so they have no ability to retaliate if Leo misses.
  • When Finn can't exhaust enemies so Leo can kill them look to your allies. Also Leo's already high health should be able to mitigate a fair amount of damage on the rare occasion of a miss resulting in damage dealt.
  • Other tools in Leo's deck that prevent or lessen the chance of damage: Dodge, Daring Maneuver, Overpower, icons from the skill cards, or the +2 from Daring maneuver in combination with 1 or 2 resources is key.
