This is a pure cluer build for multiplayer. You will NEED a dedicated killer on your team.

The core engine is simple :

1) Get a ton of money through Family Inheritance, Hot Streak, Double or Nothing + Watch This (and/or High Roller)...

2) Turn on Well Connected and High Roller, easily getting 5 in every stats (even 6 in Intellect and Agility with Lola out).

3) Pump it up with Streetwise and Dig Deep if it's a tough one. Save your ass with Lucky Dice, Live and Learn, or Lucky if necessary.

4) Cash in to keep your resources in your personal pool, preferably with Leo de Luca so you don't waste too many actions.

5) Repeat and laugh as you crush every test sent your way.

Then you have some nice tricks:

  • Fail a test with Take Heart and Look What I found for 2 clues, 2 resources and 2 cards.
  • Still some clues on there? Might be time to break the ol' Live and Learn + double or Nothing + Watch This combo.
  • Tired of gambling? Just buy it with Lola.
  • Rise to the Occasion and Sure Gamble, I usually keep for Willpower tests. Not many way to deal with those if you don't have Dig Deep or your engine ready.

You can easily avoid enemies with 6 or 8 Agility for a couple resources.

Some flex :

Might want to remove: Live and Learn, Sure Gamble and Lucky Dice are all nice but not mandatory.

Might want to add: -"You handle this one!"can be nice to avoid debilitating encounters. -Resourceful as a way to get back Look What I Found. -Lone Wolf if you tend to overspend (useful while you don't have Hot Streak yet).

Apart from Skeleton Key, those cards are also good in early scenarios before you have enough XPs to afford better cards.

This deck as a couple of flaws: enemy management of course, and High Roller can be a little unwieldy if you don't have Leo out (as the money gained from High Roller goes on your inheritance and is lost at the end of the turn if you don't cash in). XP is also tight and sort of demands Charon's Obol. Card draw might be lacking a bit. But the deck is a ton of fun!

There is only one rule: absolutely no lantern, flashlight or shovel! Why would YOU do the dirty work?

I think Elusive is a requirement, if only for the free move action he can easily afford.

I also found against Against All Odds for guaranteeing an easy pass for a crucial test.

I found that since you can combine Lola Santiago with Flashlight to get cheaper clues it was worth an include, I just assume I have paid people to carry the flashlight for me.

Also Preston never fails, so who needs to Take Heart !

I agree that Elusive should be there, at least a one of, I just don't know what to cut.

Against All Odds is good, but do you really need it on top of Sure Gamble, Lucky and Live and Learn? You could switch some of these around for sure.

Lola and Flashlight do work well together (Skeleton Key too), but well I found the discount was not significant enough to sacrifice my theme! But if you can find room to fit it, sure go ahead.

Take Heart is pretty useful to draw, which is lacking in this build. And since you want to fail a coupe of tests for look what I found anyway... Might as well do the combo.
