Arkham is riddled with crime, corruption and eldritch abominations. Preston has seen enough. With his considerable wealth, he will take the matter into his own hands, and cleanse this city. Even if it costs him his whole fortune.

His friend Lola Santiago informed him that priceless relics were stolen from the museum last night. Preston decides to investigate in person. With his Skeleton Key, a curious gadget the genius millionaire invented himself, he can go where it pleases him.

On the scene of the crime, after a "cursory glance"he finds a curious matchbox, labelled Charon's Obol. Preston is no stranger to the criminal underworld himself. He knows were to find his prey.

Silently, he slides under the Moon. His athletic training allows him to reach the ritual grounds before the dawn.

A single shot of his Ornate Bow strikes down a foe. He moves fast, he is nothing but a shadow, a Dark Horse as he fells another enemy with is Fire Axe.

He's surrounded, but he is not alone. His sidekick, the Big Man on Campus runs to create a diversion: Preston evades, and knocks down another foe with a swift blow.

A terrible roar: the ritual is complete. The beast has come. Preston reloads his bow and aims. Now it's Double or Nothing. The creature lets out a terrible shriek of pain. The others flee, but the monster is not dead.

Preston charges, ready to die to protect the innocent citizens of Arkham. His first blow misses, but he Takes Heart. Live and Learn, as his old butler would say.

The fangs of the beast loom closer, gnawing on reality itself. Money will not prove his worth here: he will show he can Rise to the Occasion. He lightly touches his Lucky Dice, the only heirloom of his dead parents he really cares about. He jumps into the maw of the beast.

How he managed to slay the creature and stay alive, he does not now. Did he get Lucky? Or was it all a dream?
