CORE SET CAMPAIGN - MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

This is the deck i have played for the Core Set Campaign. I like a lot characters that have good stats in fighting and investigation then the Guardian was my first choice. The battle was with "Skids" that i like a lot too but Roland remember to me "Fox Mulder" from X-Files fiction ( even if is BG story is realy diferent from Mulder behaviour LOL )

-SPOILERS MAY INITIATE HERE, THEN IF YOU WANT TO READ CONSIDERATIONS ON THE DECK, GO AT THE END ( DECK THOUGHTS )-

Anyway: We decided to play this campaign only with the core set cards, then with the first deluxe, and cycle of CP if we play again our Starting Characthers, of course We will develop them with new cards

FIRST SCENARIO: 6 Xp points ( Resolution 1, Ghoul Cultist killed )

-1 Working a Hunch + 1 Elder Sign Amulet

-1 Deduction + 1 Elder Sign Amulet

I've decided to burn the house, then with horror value of 4 for the rest of the campaign this seems the right stuff to do

SECOND SCENARIO: 5 xP points ( Resolution 2, 4 Cultist Achieved )

-2 Magnifying Glass +2 Magnifying Glass

Just upgrade this asset to let me being more free to use the hands slots while i've not to investigate

THIRD SCENARIO - We won the Campaing thanks to the contribution of Lita Chantler ( LOL )

During the last plot I picked up Lita Chantler but during the myths phase, UmĂ´rdhoth appears. We are in panic since we failed each Chapter test with a series of negative token ( three consecutive -4!!!) . I just have one chance to win the scenario at this point: Trying to evade, playing Lita and give her to the Beast. There are 4 clues on the site of the ritual, my companion support me with +1 in agility, the game is anyway loss, then why not! let's try! I take the token from the Chaos Bag and ...... ELDER SIGN !!!! +4 total for Roland's Ability! simply AMAZING!

DECK THOUGHTS:

This character is great, if you like to fight, and looking for clues to help your team at the same time.

When you are engaged with a monster however, you have to fight since your agility value of two, and there are a lot of encounter cards that hurt you for intellect test then, your mates in this way are fundamental Guts helps but is not enought.

I'm Satisfied of this configuration, but i would change -1 First Aid for a Beat Cop to upgrade when possibile

For the rest, you can manage the Hands slots: The .45 Automatic help me a lot with it's extra damage and Knife is a low cost army to start each scenario ( really appreciated setup card ) but if you find better, Machete even if the extra damage is situational is playable.

Even the Skills can be managed as you like, Vicious Blow was really helpfull to kill big monster in one or two turns.

I've never used Emergency Cache i can't say if it can be really usefull, but since i have the .45 Automatic, Elder Sign Amulet and Guard Dog probably that event can help to play faster that things. Then maybe i would play only one copy.

That's all i think, feel free to leave a comment

Amazing! I was choking when i read about your desperate struggle at the very end. So close - and such an overwhelming victory! Sorry to hear that you could not make use of the cache, i just stressed in a review how important this Emergency Cache is for Roland. At which point of the scenarios did you draw them? mid-game or late-game?

Thanks for the comment @Synisill. To be honest, i had never used that card during the entire campagn. I know how important economy is in LCGs and of course Emergency Cache can be really helpfull at the right time, but i've focused my campaing strategy on Weapons, Magnifying Glass and Guard Dog then, when reached ( start hands and mulligan really help ) i managed the rest of my economy on Dodge and Evidence! that have a cost of 1.

I spent some action during the campaign, for resource, but not more than 2-3 times, during dead times. I think that at the end this deck is not really dipendent from resources.

I have to say that my basic random weakness during the first two scenarios, forced me to discard a tons of cards, then probably that let me to play slowly, card by card durng the game

The last scenario ending was incredible, i thinnk tha my companion have some kind of supernatural power since he call the elder singn for me during an intellect skill test during the second scenario when i was risking to fool.

Going to look to your review for different point of view and advice!

I like the incredible turns and tweaks this game offers! Two days ago, i played with a friend of mine, he played as Daisy. Funny fact: he drew the Elder sign in 3 consecutive skill attempts! - while John Dee's Necronomicon laid on the table.....

Regarding Emergency Cache in your deck, i think that in scenario 1 they would have helped to purchase the .45 and Guard Dog, that's only 4 of 30 cards. Later, you included the Elder Sign, which is medium priced. All in all, you are right when you say that your deck is not resource heavy.

Evading that boss with a base Agility of 2 was just awesome! Would have loved to experience that moment with my own eyes .... good work and safe travels - to Dunwich, i suppose....

We were totally demoralized, after UmĂ´rdhoth comes. We played well during all the scenario and after a couple of really bad turns (Cultist, Plot Turns, Chapter skill test failed ) this was the happy ending we looking for.

Now I will change investigator for Dunwich since i have a hight number of trauma and Roland is devastated by this experience. I have already prepared "Ashcan" Pete for the new adventure in Dunwich, and this time we will be in 3 investigators!

I am looking forward to hear about your new adventure! Survivalists are my best friends, so hopefully this estray will show you his value!
