So - you want to play as Agnes but someone else called dibs?

Help speed the game to a quick and grisly conclusion so you can get started on the next game asap with this handy deck!

Getting started:

Mulligan hard for Ritual Candles. On paper these sound great in Jim! turn those s from a zero to a whopping +1. All those skill tests you would have passed by drawing a zero pass by an additional 1 point! It turns out candles are better in basically any other investigator than Jim with his (rather nice) ID ability reducing the number of tokens your candles can meaningfully effect 4 or 5 to just 2 or 3. But they wont be thinking about that, they`ll just think your gearing up for later. Let the false sense of security begin!

Next get the cash in. 4 money cards between Emergency Cache and Forbidden Knowledge should mean you can get one down early. This will be important for later on when you see a couple of them on the same space. Trust me it`ll be a blast!

Mind games:

Try to play Dr. Milan Christopher before a seeker can get it in play. This might mean its better to bring two copies. If you do get him down though make sure to use Rite of Seeking on your investigate actions. Gets you of 4 instead of of 4 with a chance of missing the rest of your turn. Careful though, try to use it when theres only 1 clue left if you can.

Need the agenda to advance? get your Arcane Initiate down.

Scry a friends deck to feed them a treachery card, or rig the encounter deck to make sure everyone gets trolled at the start of next turn. Want that to happen sooner? - Force out of sequence encounter draws with Drawn to the Flame or the upcoming Delve Too Deep. Tell them you have Ward of Protection before you do so to ease their mind - Then just dont play it! "Oh sorry guys, i forgot it costs 1 and i really need that resource for something big later on".

Never underestimate the ability of Shortcut to push your friends down the stairs or into an angry monster. The uglier the better. Once youve got them engaged with something sufficiently big, try to save them by throwing that Knife or Dynamite or by Shrivelling at it to give you extra damage if you miss. Note that you dont have any boosts form any Holy Rosarys or Guts - "sorry i just haven't drawn them yet"...

No turning back:

Last but not least, the MVP, Double or Nothing. You dont have to use this on your own tests. In fact THEY CANT STOP YOU committing it to theirs if your on the same space! Perfect for that crucial Shotgun moment.

UPGRADES:

Well if that wast enough to put them off, there is still room to improve. Grotesque Statue lets you actively select the token trigger effect that dumps doom on the table. "but its all good guys, i have the candles i get plus one to that!". Mind Wipe that enemy you need to use the parley ability on. And of course don't miss the opportunity to grab Blood Pact. All the doom you can eat!

Get this deck right and your friends wont ever think about nicking your Agnes again. You wont even have friends.

I feel like Backstab has good potential in this deck, to help out your allies who are engaged with particularly tough opponents

It's also very thematically named.

Thats a really good call actually. Great combo with Double or Nothing too.

Double or Nothing only works if the test is successful, though; unfortunately you can't define your own parameters for 'success'

Thats a fair point. I suppose at some level it at least guarantees a failure

So basically you are turning your investigator into a second encounter deck?

Feb 07, 2017 StartWithTheName · 64324

i guess its a more like a voluntary traitor mechanic

While we are at it, you can try sneaking Shotgun into this deck. If they don't notice, pair with Double or Nothing and hope for the "best".

Unfortunately he cant have Shotgun legally. though telling them after that a win that it didnt count due to an illegal deck might take this to a whole new level!

Another tip: If you're the one distributing basic weaknesses, stack it so that you get Silver Twilight Acolyte. Then every single non-fighting action you take will add doom!
