DAMN IT, HARVEY

AMNmMV5.png

Introduction

The main idea here is to abuse Harvey's innate card draw alongside Gabriel Carillo, Prismatic Spectacles, and Esoteric Method to stack the token bag with curses and then use Cryptic Grimoire to start playing insight events as fast actions. This deck is ideally suited for a party that has other members utilizing curse tokens because it is extremely easy to fill the chaos bag consistently as Harvey.

Table of Contents:
  • Overview

  • Main Strategy

  • Fey & Lack of Relic Hunter

Overview:

Difficulty: ★ - ★★★★★ depending on how much your allies like curses.
Enemy Management: ★☆☆☆☆
Clue-getting: ★★★★★ (You're Harvey)
Encounter protection: ★★☆☆☆
Survivability: ★★☆☆☆ (You're Harvey)
Economy: ★★★☆☆
Card Drawing: ★★★★★ (You're Harvey)

Main Strategy:

Early game you should prioritize getting out Prismatic Spectacles, Gabriel Carillo, and Vault of Knowledge. Cryptic Grimoire is okay early but it's not likely to do anything until there is a high volume of curses in the bag.

Once your draw engine is setup and you have curses in the bag. Get out Cryptic Grimoire and start spamming Favor of the Moon for your prismatic spectacles tests. With Blasphemous Covenant we can reveal a as a +1 without losing the benefits of cards like Control Variable, Prismatic Spectacles, and Fey which rely on revealing a (we're only changing the modifier, not what token was revealed). Keep in mind that you can continue to use your spectacles after they exhaust, they just won't give you an additional clue.

Speaking of exhaust, Cryptic Grimoire does not exhaust, so you can spend as many secrets as you want to keep playing insight events as fast during your turn. This deck focuses on 0-1 cost events, so they will always be free when played this way. Some quick notes on the insight choices here:

  • Bizarre Diagnosis - Thrice-Damned Curiosity hits like a truck and if you're drawing a lot you will need to heal frequently. This deck is very lacking in soak and a fast heal is highly appreciated.
  • Burning the Midnight Oil - Early game this is useful for resources, late game it doubles as a fast investigate.
  • Deep Knowledge - A potentially fast draw 3 that adds curse tokens.
  • Testing Sprint - We can mitigate one of the actions spent here by playing it as fast.

Fey & Lack of Relic Hunter
  • There is no downside to committing this card to any test, by anyone that has a guaranteed token reveal. Use them with carefree abandon until they are tabooed. It's a triple will commit so hypothetically if there were any cursed mystics in your party you could consider giving them an added boost.

  • In practice I found that having two Prismatic Spectacles out was a waste because once you hit 10 tokens you cannot use them. This will vary depending on party size and curse synergy.

    • Similarly, running multiple copies of Magnifying Glass and Cryptic Grimoire wasn't helpful because neither are early priorities and Harvey tends to cycle quickly.
