Archer Skids at His Finest

This is the deck I brought to Invocation 2018 for The Eternal Slumber. Our team of Ursula, Leo Anderson, and Agnes got off to a slow start due to limited clue-ability but finished incredibly strong in a very tough scenario.

Highlights for me were:

  • One-shotting a 4-health VIP on the other side of the map with a Shortcut and a Marksmanship to get there.
  • One-shotting a 5-health monster with a Double or Nothing + "Watch this!" that gave me 9 resources.
  • Realizing at the end of the game that I never drew a Hot Streak or Emergency Cache and still had money to be effective.

Party Role

This makes a great 3rd wheel deck for multiplayer, where you've already got a dedicated Machete-wielder and a dedicated Clue-vacuum. You can get 1 clue a turn with Lockpicks, but you also have great action efficiency in that you can kill virtually any non-elite in 2 actions or less.

Core Pieces

Most of the deck is focused on enabling the Ornate Bow. Venturer gives you Action-less reloads, Prepared for the Worst finds the bow, and Narrow Escape can reload your bow in a pinch and power up your next shot. Marksmanship solves enemies with 4-health, aloof, or who aren't at your location.

Other Cards

  • Lucky Cigarette Case is important to help find all of your pieces. If you don't find bow or Lockpicks you're not doing much.
  • Bandolier lets you hold Lockpicks. At the event, I started with Lockpicks, lost my picks across several bad token draws while investigating, then discarded them with the Bow. It wasn't until late in the scenario that I laid down Bando and my second Lockpicks.
  • High Roller is kind of important because you don't have any static stat boosts. It can help you pick up clues and pass treacheries. It's incredibly flexible.
  • I felt the Hot Streaks weren't enough on their own for econ, so I threw in a Cache[3] because of its ability to reload Lockpicks and Venturer.
  • The Double or Nothing was originally another Courage but I swapped it in last minute and was very happy with the results. It's basically another economy card, and you should hold onto it until you can use it with "Watch this!" or at least High Roller.

Overall I'm really pleased with how well this deck performed. The Bow is very powerful but I think it demands a lot from your deckbuilding.
