The theme here is consistency. Jim wants to always control what is coming out of the chaos bag and between Grotesque Statue, Recall the Future, Olive McBride and Dark Prophecy you should be able to do so. Then all we need to do is have some baseline capabilities in each category, which we accomplish with our spells. Some concern on not getting a copy of shriveling and being relegated to clue duty only, but there is no room for Arcane Initiate, so be ready for a fistfight or two.

Upgrade priority - remember your first spell each time is reduced by 2xp - spend wisely, this means inserting lower priority items when you can.

For example, if in your first scenario you gained 3xp, you would have 3+2(spell only) to spend. You lose the +2 if you don't spend it, so you need to make sure you do. In this case, you would spend 2 to upgrade one of your lucky to recall the future, then spend the remaining 1 normal xp + the reduce cost by 2 ability on shriveling. The ward of protections cost exactly 2, so try to save those updates for when you want to use all your standard xp.

  1. Lucky! -> Recall the Future
  2. Ritual Candles -> Grotesque Statue
  3. Charisma
  4. Shrivelling -> Shrivelling
  5. Ward of Protection -> Ward of Protection
  6. Sixth Sense -> Sixth Sense
  7. Rite of Seeking -> Rite of Seeking
  8. Deny Existence -> Deny Existence
