The Dreamlands await! Curiously the campaign is structured differently than usual and to take advantage of all the scenarios one needs two different investigators. I'm always playing as Jenny in these blind runs of mine and thus I'm tempted to play as Jenny A and Jenny B, but... the new investigators are so tantalizing. Then again, none of them seen particularly suited for solo games... Let's think narrative-wise. Jenny could hire Tony to look for her sister, that's an easy one. The campaign is supposed to be about dreams so Luke is an easy fit as well. However, I think I like Tommy the most. There's a story there, with Jenny being a mentor figure to Tommy and him being eager to prove himself in her eyes. Yup! Let's go with that. We'll make an old-school deck for Jenny. There are only four scenarios so I expect the campaign to be generous with XPs. That means no Delves and that in turn means I can slot in Drawn to the Flames.

Jenny dreams her dream. It's about playing cards. Fitting, eh? I don't think she can play Leo without having six resources, but there are other choices.

Beyond the Gates of Sleep

Jenny begins the scenario with 4 resources and Lone Wolf in play.

Pre-Mulligan Hand: Jenny's Twin .45s, 2x Intel Report, Emergency Cache, Hard Knocks

Opening Hand: 2x Emergency Cache, Hard Knocks, Unexpected Courage, Drawn to the Flame

#1

  • Lone Wolf
    • Jenny's done the impossible and took resources from Lone Wolf in turn one! Not to mention, with two Emergence Caches we ought to have our resource needs covered for the entire scenario. Sadly, there's not too much to spend all those riches on just yet.
  • PLAY Hard Knocks
  • INVESTIGATE (-1, 1 clue from Seventy Steps)
  • DRAW Elusive
  • Upkeep: draw .41 Derringer, 5 resources total.

#2

  • Mythos: 2/19 doom
    • In essence we're trading no encounters for an additional doom. There's only one Agenda, so I don't think that trade is worth it. I'll try to have Jenny move away from the Step locations as soon as possible.
  • Lone Wolf
  • PLAY .41 Derringer
  • MOVE to The Cavern of Flame
  • Advance Entering the Dreamlands
    • Oops! I should've known from then illustration. Jenny sees two hooded figures and I see two enemies. Thankfully, both are aloof and can be parlayed. Of course this makes is the fourth campaign in a row where Fine Clothes are useful in the early scenarios.
  • PARLEY (commit Unexpected Courage & Elusive, , flip Kaman-Thah)
    • Spiffy new dress! The surroundings are all fiery and so Jenny is going to imagine herself an ash-colored finery that glitters in red and gold as if there were tiny dying embers interwoven in the material. In addition to that she's going to wear polished brass bracelets and a heavy-set diadem with etched numbers and letters.
  • Upkeep: draw "Watch this!", 5 resources total.

Board State Reminder: 7 health, 6 sanity, 17 resources, 0 clues

In Play: .41 Derringer (3 ammo), Hard Knocks, Lone Wolf

In Hand: Drawn to the Flame, .41 Derringer, Jenny's Twin .45s, Flashlight

Threat: Psychosis

#6

  • Mythos: 9/19 doom, Crypt Chill (, discard .41 Derringer)
    • Yeah... In retrospect that's a misplay. I should've thrown Lone Wolf to the wolves. With so many resources remaining there was no reason to deprive Jenny of her weapon.
  • Lone Wolf
  • The Enchanted Path
    • It's an extremely action-intensive endeavor. Where is Leo? Will he appear if Jenny thinks of him?
  • Upkeep: draw Overpower, 20 resources total.
    • Seriously! Why do I even run these?

Zero XPs! I've got nothing else to say. Not even a single complimentary XP for finishing the scenario. We'll see whether Tommy does better over in Scenario 1B.

Campaign Log:

Beyond the Gates of Sleep: Jenny parleyed with the Zoogs! 0 XP, 1 Mental Trauma.
