A Scavenging Pete has superior consistency with the ability to select cards directly from the discard to be played, and can deal with all skill tests by gaining tons of resources, and then spending the resources to pump any of the 4 skills with Plucky and Scrapper.

  1. Short Supply to put items (to retrieve with Scavenging), non-item Survivor assets (to retrieve with Resourceful), innate skills (to retrieve with True Survivor), Winging It and weaknesses in the discard pile.
  2. Pump intellect with Granny Orne, Alice Luxley, St. Hubert's Key, Ice Pick and Plucky.
  3. Trigger up to 2x Scavenging to play various items as a free action or free retrieval to your hand. You may also trigger Pete's ability to discard an item in hand to refresh Duke during an investigation (but before drawing chaos token), and then play that item as a free action from discard.
  4. Obtain free resources or cards each turn with 2x Drawing Thin + Track Shoes, or Grisly Totem + 2x Take Heart + Track Shoes.
  5. Use True Survivor to retrieve 1x Resourceful, 1x Take Heart and 1x Quick Thinking Use Quick Thinking while Scavenging and use Take Heart with Track Shoes, and use Resourceful back on True Survivor for endless loop. With one action and 3 resources to play True Survivor, you get back 1 action (from Quick Thinking), 2 resources (2 from Take Heart plus 1 from upkeep too), 2 free commits, and 3 cards (1 from Resourceful and 2 from Take Heart). Once Grisly Totem and Track Shoes are in play, you no longer need to retrieve Take Heart and you can then use True Survivor to retrieve the second Resourceful instead. Second Resourceful can then be used to retrieve Will to Survive to trigger guaranteed success (and guaranteed scavenges) every turn.
  6. Once you are swimming in resources from Drawing Thin and Take Heart, you can use those resources to pump any of the skills with Scrapper and Plucky.
  7. When one Ice Pick is in hand or play and another Ice Pick is in discard, the Ice Pick in play can be discarded for one additional clue, while scavenging the Ice Pick in discard and then play that back as a fast action (this provides the potential of up to 6 clues in one round, with Duke investigations x2 and Winging It x1). Otherwise, while both Ice Picks are in play, they can be discarded to deal 4 total damage to an enemy with Duke as the first action, followed by 2x Scavenging as a second action to put both Ice Picks back into play, and then attack with Duke and discard the Ice Picks again for another 4 damage, for a total of 8 damage in one round.
  8. To prevent horror from exhausting the deck, you can trigger Winging It up to 2 times per turn to shuffle it back into deck and draw one of the Winging It at will again with Duke + Track Shoes + Drawing Thin.
  9. At full potential, you can perform up to 8 equivalent standard actions using just one action.
    • [1x Move] Activate Duke to move
    • [1x Move] Activate Track Shoes to move again (with Scrapper and Granny pump)
    • [0 to 1x Move] Refresh Track Shoes with Pete's ability, and then move with Track Shoes again
    • [12x draw card/gain resource] Activate up to 2x Drawing Thin and 2x Take Heart on Track Shoes test for up to 8 resources + 4 cards, or 4 resources + 6 cards.
    • [1x Investigate] Investigate with Duke and gain 1 clue
    • [1 to 2x Investigate] Discard up to 2x Ice Picks to gain up to 2x additional clues.
    • [1x Attack] Activate Alice to deal 1 damage
    • [1 to 2x Play Asset] Activate 2x Scavenging to play two items for free or return them to hand
