Agnes' Power! Word!

This is the best card in the Scarlet Keys, am I right?

Introduction:

Bend enemies to your will with your powerful words, defend yourself against your troubling dark memories, and flex your way to success with others in this deck that went through the Scarlet Keys alongside Vincent Lee, Trish Scarborough and Tony Morgan. This deck is using Agnes' parallel front and standard back.

Overview:

Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Enemy Management: ★★★★☆
Clue-getting: ★★★☆☆
Encounter protection: ★★★☆☆
Survivability: ★★★★★
Economy: ★★★★☆
Card Drawing: ★★★☆☆

Main Strategy:

This deck's aim is to use The Best Card In Scarket Keys (Power Word, am I right?) in an event heavy parallel Agnes Baker. Because her advanced Dark Memory is pretty brutal, there's a bunch of cards in here to defend against it, either by discarding it before it's drawn, or by healing more horror than it can deal.

Also, note that this deck played alongside Vincent Lee who healed, I dunno, 5-15 damage off me each scenario.

Bend enemies to your will:

Power Word is simply amazing. It's a fun puzzle to manage but when you have 3 Power Worded enemies out in play, the puzzle is satisfying and hugely powerful. I ended one TSK scenario with 27 clues to my name. The "Mercy" keyword is a great defense against Agnes' self-inflicted wounds.

Defend against the memories

Dark Memory is punishing. The best way to mitigate it? Never draw it. With Parallel Fates and Scroll of Secrets you are giving yourself the best change of getting it to the discard before it hurts you.

Maximum destruction

Storm of Spirits is one of the better area damage cards in the game, but has a significant downside. Your friend don't appreciate getting hit. Grotesque Statue lets you draw 2 tokens to help avoid that problem. Time Warp can also get you out of that hole.

Other cards

  • I don't think Ethereal Slip gets enough love. In a 4p game this card can get you anywhere. In one TSK scenario, Agnes had one health remaining, with 4 enemies on her. A Storm of Spirits destroyed the enemies, then the Ethereal Slip got her 7 locations away in one action in order to complete the scenario. Magical!

  • String of Curses is fun. It is safest when you have both in hand and can despatch an enemy, testlessly, in a single turn.

  • Down the Rabbit Hole works so well with Customisable cards. If you put those cards in your deck, you're probably committing to upgrading them. In which case, the Rabbit Hole is providing you a lot of cheap upgrades.

  • Refine was in the deck at the start and was played twice in the campaign before being upgraded out. I saw that as pretty good value.

I had so much fun with this deck. Power Word is my favourite card in the Scarley Keys expansion (among a lot of amazing cards). For this deck to work at its best, you really need someone else to help heal. Vincent Lee was something of a necessary companion for this deck to really shine.

Quick question... Your title says that Agnes is using the best Scarlet Keys card, but I don't see Shed A Light anywhere... Why is that?

:P

@mattastrophic :-) See my review for Power Word for an explanation of why I think it takes the prize.

Power Word is powerful, a puzzle, a story, flexible, and a team card arkhamdb.com

Shed A Light? Fantastic. But it's only an Event card. It doesn't have that magic mix.

That Marvel Champions art, though... We should petition to get the artwork Tabooed to become Arkham Horror art.

Really beautiful thematic deck! I love power word and I love playing this game as an RPG first of all, as you describe. I haven't played parallel Agnes yet, so this is a cool idea I can build on.
