One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Overview:

Action efficiency clue and combat ashcan hybrid deck focused on gathering clues recycles cards using Scavenging, which can either be spent on resetting Duke for a second use or committed to skill tests.

Most of the cards should be self explanatory, but heres a few notable points:

Item cards: in the deck each have , or wild () icons to keep them duel purpose. Get comfortable over-writing the hand slots to adapt to the situation. you can always Scavenge them. Usually its worth keeping a Mag Glass in play where possible, but do note that if you have to recur it its fast install minimising tempo loss.

Flashlight: Don’t underestimate this. Once Milan and a Mag Glass are in play you`ll have base 4 which gives you about a 75% chance of being able to scavenge on a shroud 2 or lower, about 55% at shroud 3. Perfect for that 3rd action after double Duking.

Fire Axe: most of your combat will be with duke for the + 1 damage. Fire Axe is rarely going to need to drop you to zero cash to get the bonus damage since two hits with duke should be enough to kill most things. Fire Axe really shines on the cheap + pumping especially for dealing with mobs who have an odd number of HP. Ofc the option to “go for broke” is always there.

Rabbit's Foot/Strange Solution: The obvious use for Rabbit's Foot is to (almost) guarantee a reset of duke for when you draw that tentacle or help find those missing scavenge if they didn’t turn up in the mulligan. They also have a wonderful wild () icon as does Strange Solution. These basically give you a baby reusable Unexpected Courage. Note that you are very unlikely to ever want to put Strange Solution into play let alone fire its action.

Getting Started:

Muligan absolutely anything that isn’t or Scavenging 1 copy of either Milan (preferred) and a Mag Glass. You don’t need to play Scavenging absolutely straight away, but you`ll want it asap.

Variants:

Dr. Milan Christopher is very likely to be wanted by a seeker if your group has one. an easy swap is for Beat Cop to swap to a bit more of a combat focus. Strange Solution is very changeable. Its mainly there to get some mileage out of an otherwise unused out of faction slot. Feel free to import whatever you fancy. I had Liquid Courage in there for thematic reasons, though i rarely found i needed it. Vicious Blow is another good choice letting you take down a 3 HP mob for one action. Or Deduction would work if you have damage focussed team mates. If youve dropped Milan, Burglary might be nice for both cash and the option to scavenge at any location irrespective of clue, however i would possibly advise against Burglary as it goes against the passive action generation that the deck is built around and frankly you shouldnt need the cash that badly. Other easy drops are Knife (basically a icon item for recycling where basically any weapon will do that) and Dig Deep which is partly there to get some mileage out of the cash you can get from Milan.

Upgrades:

The card draw from upgraded Lucky! is an obvious easy bonus. Similarly im yet to see a deck that wouldnt benefit from Will to Survive. Another less obvious but quite viable choice is Bulletproof Vest over Leather Coat allowing you to get a and wild () icon (ie another wild() or double when needed). Similarly Elder Sign Amulet offers & wild (). An easy swap for Guts or Strange Solution
