People always tried avoid the attack of opportunities when using Alice Luxley, such as evade the enemy first, play events to get around, or remote Investigations. Why don't we make things simpler, and just take the AoOs?

Vincent stands out because of his good , access to to tank the damages, which he likes to get hurt and heal wounds. More importantly, he also have the access, which allows him to drop clues, solves another issue of Alice when you are on a location with no clues.

Vincent with Alice has 5, is pretty good but we want better, Magnifying Glass is always the good pick, but it doesn't help your friends, as a kind Doctor, we've got something better, the Encyclopedia.

If you are engaged with a 1 health enemy, what do you do? First you read your book, and the enemy will magically disappear, you won't even see a wound on your guard dog.

If you are engaged with a 2 health enemy, what do you do? Although you want to read your book very much, unfortunately this is the only case where you investigate, Alice combined with guard dog will kill it. (if you used Bandages to heal, you can immediately commit On the Mend to this investigation).

If you are engaged with a 3 health enemy, what do you do? Yes, you read first, then investigate to kill it. Of course you should investigate again after that, not to waste the +2 bonus.

If you are engaged with a 4 health enemy, what do you do? You might have guessed it: you read first, then investigate twice with +2 bonus. Taking all 3 action and 3 AoO, och, that hurts even with bandage, especially if the enemy deals a lot horror), alternatively, consult the following.

If you are engaged with a enemy with 5 or more health, what do you do? Well, yell at your guardian friend for help!

That said, in real plays, many of the time you are just reading for your friends because there is no monster, and occasionally heals them. Your team might lack on gathering clues, but they have now received a friendly doctor.
