Picture this: Your family accidentally leaves for a vacation, leaving you and your friends in your house all alone. Then some bad guys show up wanting to rob your house. What do you do? You Makeshift Trap everything, of course.
Yes, this is a meme deck built to see the effectiveness of Makeshift Trap. I played it through EotE in a 2p campaign and it was surprisingly effective.
Makeshift Trap comes with a lot of advantages. 1 cost is cheap. -1 difficulty to your fight and evade checks against non-elite enemies at that location is decent. Dealing 3 damage to every enemy at that location is amazing. (Dynamite Blast on tap!) It also prevents movement and attacks of opportunity from non-elite enemies. This means you rarely have to engage an enemy to get it off a friend as they'll be able to continue clueving and then just move away and the enemy stays behind. It's a fast action so you'll never incur an attack of opportunity for playing it and that saves a LOT of actions through the scenario. And the improved timer means you can set it to 1 (almost always) so that you get the immediate satisfaction of watching as the enemy grabs the door handle after you've heated it up with an electric charcoal starter.
The Trap does have a couple of drawbacks. It'll hurt you or your friends if you stay there when it's blowing up. And it only does 3 damage to all the enemies and many enemies have more than that.
Now, 3 damage is good, but it ain't good enough. So we need a way to do more. And we do! Enter Shrine of the Moirai. Your trap just blew up so now it is time to collect the pieces and re-assemble it. Yeah, something bad might happen, but so what? You are William Yorick; you don't give up and you're thirsty for more. The Shrine allows you to pull back your Trap plus one other level 0 card (so you can replay the Trap for another 3 damage!). There's some good stuff there, like Resourceful to pull back more Traps. When I didn't need to use it, my friend was able to make use of it. This was such a fantastic card and really helped my cluever friend bring his A-game by recycling Deduction 2's and other sweet cards.
But this build requires you to move a lot. And the Shrine doesn't like to move. So... we look back at William's time in the graveyard alone and how he learned his Survival Technique. It lets him yank up the Shrine when he needs to move.
Here's the hilarious thing: Fight actions are incredibly rare in this build. There's a Fire Axe and a Runic Axe. I did eventually upgrade into Chainsaws and put 4xp into Runic Axe when I was headed into the final scenario, but honestly, this build only relies on weapons as a fall-back in case you don't find the traps. But you will find the traps thanks to Short Supply and typical survivor shenanigans. And if you haven't found one after the mulligan and short supply, well, that's why there are actual weapons in the deck. (Yuck, I know.)
Hunting Jacket is a secret MVP for soak and resource generation. The core combo is dirt cheap with a cost of only 1 for Makeshift Trap and 1 for Shrine of the Moirai.
A few notes: 1. Breach the Door wasn't as good as I'd hoped. I ran two copies through the entire campaign. I was hoping for great Survival Technique synergy, but it was never really played. 2. Dynamite Blast did get used a couple of times mostly because it was funny. This is a meme deck; more explosions is more gooder. 3. Wolf Mask helped a good amount with Track Shoes though it was honestly in there initially as a way to improve my fighting in a pinch. 4. Bury Them Deep is sad. I frequently took 3 damage to the face just to be able to play it. 5. Track Shoes is HILARIOUS. Walk into a location with an enemy. During the test, throw down the trap. Pass the test and continue walking. 6. I initially ran Pelt Shipment for a couple of scenarios to help build up the xp.

I am deeply unsatisfied with absence of On Your Own in this list but I get it that it wouldn't have to many good targets.
