Primary Role: Clue Finder
FOR SCIENCE!
This is a straight forward thematic science build. Science cards tend to care about how much you succeed by, I leaned into that mechanic.
You'll put one Fine Tuning on a Chemistry Set or Antikythera to get more uses each turn. Then use Inquisitive and Steady-Handed to get the result you want.
You'll rarely discard Uncanny Specimen, they are mainly fast & cheap science assets for Kate+Flux Stabilizer to put clues on. Tinker gives you even more Science and Tool assets. This build can have up to 14 science/tool assets out at once. Expect every clue you find to also provide a +2 stat boost!
CLUE FINDING
Like a lot of Seekers, you'll boost your to succeed more often in investigations.
You also have a lot of different ways to investigate, get extra clues, or benefit when you do succeed:
- Deduction
- Microscope
- Chemistry Set
- Uncanny Growth
- Dr. Milan Christopher
- Antikythera
- Hypnotic Therapy
The goal of this build is to investigate often, succeed often, and get A LOT of bonuses each time you do.
Microscope's ability can require some coordination with your team to maximize effectiveness. However, it easily allows you to grab clues from high shroud and/or victory locations.
MONSTER FIGHTING
Kate can hold her own in most fights, but prefers to have a dedicated fighter in the group.
After using your Science assets to investigate, you'll use Uncanny Growth to grow your Ravenous Myconid to eat monsters. You'll also get a few uses of Strange Solution and Transmogrify. You also have your signature event Aetheric Current or Aetheric Current to lean on. I prefer the Evade variant as immediate monster removal is very powerful.
Kate Winthrop has a naturally high to evade monsters which will also empower your Microscope.
SUPPORT
This build has no way to benefit your allies except Uncanny Specimen which should only be used in emergencies.
SURVIVAL
This build has no methods to restore or mitigate health or sanity loss. It also has no ways to cancel or avoid encounter cards.
Kate Winthrop has a mere 2. The Mythos phase can really do Kate Winthrop a lot of harm. Mouse Mask should primarily be used for the +2. Use majority of Kate Winthrop + Flux Stabilizer bonuses during the Mythos phase. I recommend having at least 2 clues you can put on assets during this phase since her ability to get the +2 stat boost doesn't have a round/phase limit.
