If Roland thought soomeone at the Bureau was trying to get him out of the way when he was assigned to Arkham, that suspicion was rapidly upgraded to getting him killed within a week of investigating the Silver Twilight Lodge, and specifically the Fairmont family. Fortunately, the young Preston seems a) relatively harmless and b) too oblivious to realise he's being investigated. So when he offered to hire the down-on-his-luck ex-cop that was Roland's "undercover persona" for a privately funded archaeological expedition, Roland was more than happy to follow the most harmless of the Twilight Lodge members to somewhere that was definitely not Arkham.

A deck for a multiplayer playthrough of The Forgotten Age; Players chose their characters and I tried to buld decks that would supplement each other.

Roland is primarilly the cluehound, with a healthy amount of damage dealing. With Alice Luxleyin tow, and with his special ability, he can hopefully do a bit of both each turn. He's poorly built for the jungle, to be honest, but with his ability to find Shortcuts he can at least get some movement in, and Handcuffs can help him evade humans, although they're usless against enemies that don't have wrists. He's equipped with cards like Scene of the Crime and Working a Hunch to clue gather even when there are enemies, and "If It Bleeds" Crack the Case and Teamwork make him a valuable member of the team, while the Hawk-Eye Camera, "If it Bleeds" (again) and later an upgraded Enchanted Blade will protect him from horror and his lack of willpower.

Playing

Mulligan for Alice Luxley and a weapon OR Prepared for the Worst. Ideally you want to get Alice in play first so you can use her boost before you get distracted by enemies.

Once you have an ally and a weapon, you can aim to activate either her ability or your own at least once a turn. Stay with your friends, though - you may find that in the first few scenarios they can get you through where your natural abilities don't quite measure up.

Roland's not a natural in the jungle, but keep his eyes open for clues and don't get too bogged down in fighting rather than moving, and you may get out with your sanity intact.
